I kinda guessed. I think fuel injection came out in 1987, so it is at least that old.

EDIT: according to Wiki, 1983 was the first year for the American market 22R-E. 1987 was the first year for the 3VZ-E.

I should remember this as I was a mechanic at Toyota from 1985 to 1990.
Oh well, they say the memory is the first thing to go...

 

I heard somewhere that '85 was the last year for solid front axle and first year for fuel injection so it is kind of the sweet spot.

Yep and I still have mine. Best vehicle I have ever owned hands down.

 

1985, last year of solid front axle. Drove it 17yrs, it was a good one.
