 I have a 2002 Tacoma 4x4. I purchased the Bilstein 5100 series adjustable front shocks and bushing kits(2) The kit is supposed to be correct for the 5100 series shocks, but as you can see they are too tall to allow the locknut to catch the threads? Any help would be appreciated. Happy Labor Day! Frank

It's been a while since I had mine, but I know a lot of folks don't run the dust boot. It's really not necessary, anyway.

Just following up on this thread since I am running into a similar issue. I am assembling the following parts:

    5100 Bilstein
    881 OME Springs
    Monroe Top Hat
Wheelers Front Stem and Washer Kit (Upper Washer, Upper Cushion, Lower Washer, Lower Cushion)

I think I need to ditch the lower cushion because it seems like the top hat bushing has a built in lower cushion (2 in the top left of the picture).

I am having a tough time finding the answer on the TW threads and confirming with an image. Touched base with Wheelers as well and they sent me a schematic but it doesn't quite match up with this situation.

I put an image of how I think it should go together. Fully assembled on the left and on the right broken apart into individual pieces with viewing each piece from the bottom side.

Wondering if any of you TW peoples could shed some light. Thanks in advance!

(edit: below image shows washer orientation incorrect. They should be flipped so that they are concave towards the bushing.)

@Timmah! had a similar issue in his video and took the top washer off to get the nut to grab the threads. once he got the nut on, he tightened it up just to compress the bushing for a bit. after some time, you take the nut off and the bushing will be compressed a bit, enough to allow you to put the washer on and then the nut. i had a similar issue with my rear shocks and thats exactly what i did. good luck

Had a similar experience w/ 4600's and moog springs. I assembled them almost the same way so you did. The difference was I had the washers fliped, with the lip facing toward the rubber bushings. If I had to do it again, I would use the smaller bushing on the top w/ the rubber lip facing down toward the top hat bc my OEM# factory setup had a smaller bushing on top. It was about 1.5 mm smaller than the diameter of the top washer fully compressed.

I also never used extra rubber bushings b/c the kyb top hats I ordered came with them preinstalled.

Put about 200 miles on the setup so far w/ no problems at all.

Thanks @mattyosh. I went ahead and reassembled the top hats, bushings and washers and edited the post to show the correct washer orientation. Left the fatty bushing b/c I like em fat.

    Mahalo!
