How are you liking this? Any issues? I am going to spec and potentially leave a deposit on Saturday at my local AD.

Been great so far. Went through winter with no locking up on the locks. This is my 3rd ARE and I’ve kept coming back.

Mine's on a 2 Gen not a 3, but just got an ARE CX for it. They matched the truck color perfectly. Pleasant, professional service and installation. Love it. 20200109_114100.jpg

Not sure the model off hand. Works fine. Got the LED lights, pet screen, and a few others. No complaints.

I spent a ton of time shopping shells and really like this setup. Solid windoors for side access are awesome, eliminates concern for a busted window while wheeling, not to mention 2 less windows to peer through. I thought about selecting the aluminum panel for the rear as well but didn't want to lose rearview visibility. Biggest draw back is the side and rear doors are not key alike but it's worth the hassle to retain rearview visibility.

Another point on the folding T handles is it secures the door on both sides and is adjustable, vs the standard lock with a single contact point securing the door directly attached to the handle. Plus they're flush mount, so the handle doesn't stickout like the standard handle.

The options raises the price, but I preferred to option as ideally as possible vs regret a >$2000 purchase.

Ok one more gripe, the color match isn't 100%. I'm guessing they use a dark primer vs the greenish/tan that Toyota uses. Hard to notice, see last pic, and after the first week I stopped caring, don't really notice now.

After 180k I finally decided to do something to my truck. ARE CX Evolve cap and I couldn’t be happier! Has the screens in the sliding windows, perfect for sleeping in the back during turkey season. I need a lift, new wheels and tires and a re-gear!

Looks good. IMO, get some 265/75's and an 1.5" lift and skip the need for a regear.

    180k is impressive. Any issues?

@Built4TheHunt I have the same question. I’m dying to swap my Bakflip MX4 and BillieBars for an ARE CX Topper but I just can’t justify spending the money right now because my current set up works fine.

I just customized an ARE CX HD on their website and they sent me a quote for over $4,300. No chance I’m paying that, even for exactly what I want.

I’d love to hear that it’s still worth the money even with that many miles on the truck. That will justify the wait because my Bakflip will be dead by then and I’ll need something new lol

ARE CX, I picked it up used for $1600. Been very happy with it so far. I will be testing it out soon with all my camping gear.

@Lt. Dangle - no major issues. I need to replace some u-joints. Two sets of tires and front brake pads is all I’ve done to it. It has 265/75/16’s on it now.

That’s fantastic to hear. You could have told me that truck is a 2021 and you just bought it and I wouldn’t know the difference. Great looking rig.

I’ve searched the forum and the internet and can’t find an answer for these two questions so please forgive me if I missed it somewhere…

I’m waiting to take delivery of my A.R.E. CX cap and I have 2 questions for planning/build/gear storage purposes.

I’m hoping maybe someone here can help me out…

    1) Can anyone tell me if the toolbox that is integrated into the side of the cap is magnetic? As in, will I be able to mount hooks, bins etc. using magnets inside the tool box?

    2) What are the dimensions of the toolbox?

I would have thought those questions would be answered somewhere on their website but I can’t find anything. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I have no answer. I have an ARE CX and have no integrated tool box. Might have been a nice option, I wasn't even aware of. Good luck on your quest:

I built my own box so no help here with the dimensions, but I strongly assume they are metal and will be magnetic.

Cool, thanks for the input. I’m assuming the same but I haven’t been able to confirm yet.

Your truck is amazing by the way, i really love what you’ve done.

Thanks. Your truck looks great too! I am not brave enough for a Black truck, looks amazing all cleaned up.

I looked for some old brochure from when I bought my cap to no avail, I have a V series, but I imagine the boxes are all about the same. I am like 99.9% certain they are a heavy gage metal with a 120# load rating.
