    Hi guys,

My tacoma has pretty thoroughly rusted through it's rear axle housing and is seeping fluid through it and I need to replace it. I found a used axle from a 2wd 3.91 non-abs non-locking truck that's in great shape, and I'm trying to figure out if there is any difference in the housing from my truck, which is a 4wd 4.10 non-abs non-locking rear. Just need the housing, won't use the axle shafts or third member or anything else. From what I can tell, it seems like it's the same, but if anyone can let me know if there's something I'm missing (wouldn't be a first!) then it would be tremendously helpful.

    Thanks!

I considered that, but the axle housing is pretty rusty from wheel to wheel, not just the pumpkin, plus I don’t have the equipment or knowledge to do the welding. I’d rather just spend 300-500 on a used housing that I can sand and paint up before I put it on.
