Visited Dublin for a couple days, then drove to Galway, was there for two days then drove back to Dublin for the remainder of the trip.

Croke Park Hotel (my first hotel stay in Dublin).

How was the trip? My parents and brother leave Thursday I think. I've always wanted to go, but just can't seem to motivate myself to make it all the way.

Yes, seats 82,500. Cab driver said they play Irish football there, a cross between rugby, American football and boxing

Had a good time. Hopefully going again next year. This time by myself. The two people I traveled with complained the whole time.

Was thinking about my second trip. I won't rent a car this time and using the money I saved to get a hotel in Dublin center.
I also will get a direct flight. Hartford, CT to Dublin isn't that bad. That way I can drive myself and leave my truck at the airport. I had a car service drive me to LaGuardia last time.

I forgot to mention driving on the wrong side of the road (and car).
I rented a manual transmission car. It was weird at first but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.
You just have to remember that everything is on the opposite side of the car (tolls, drive thru, etc.).
I made that mistake when I was leaving a parking garage and was wondering how to insert my ticket when the thing was on the wrong side of the car, (I was driving out the entrance ).

I love Ireland. My parents are from there and I go back 2-3 times a year depending on the airfare. If your in Dublin you should take the DART (subway) and check out Howth, Bray, and Greystones. If you go to Bray you can walk to Greystones right next to the Irish Sea.

My Grandfather is from Ireland, or so I've been told.
    Thanks for the tip.
There are things I missed seeing in Dublin because of my travel companions. I did see the Cliffs of Moher while I was in Galway.

I used to suggest renting a car and go exploring by yourself. But hiring a car is now very expensive. There is so much to see over there. Personally, I usually avoid Dublin as I’m from NYC but I do like Bray and Howth. They are nice seafront towns. The only times I enjoyed Dublin was the rugby matches at Landsdowne Road.
