Has anyone come up with a permanent fix for fan resistor?

When you buy a new resistor you get one side of the troubled connector, which is why the kits include a new resistor.

I don’t have experience with the new printed circuit-type resistors, but the older green wire wound resistors are pretty tough, failure of the resistor itself is unlikely.

Mine has been acting up lately, have to hit the area where the resistor is and it’ll start working again. Should I replace the resistor?

Has anyone successfully replaced the wiring harness going to the fan motor?

I’ve replaced the resistor harness and resistor. Then the OEM fan motor stopped altogether. Replaced with aftermarket but it’s cut out a few times, normally when my son is riding shotgun and kicks something down there. Wiggling the wiring harness going to the fan motor lets everything work as normal again.

I've been using the stuff for years when needed and it has never given me an issue on electrical connections. This video should help explain things better it's crude tests, but it makes a point.

Dialectric grease is for sealing out water, dust, dirt. It is not for making an electrical connection "better." Common misconception it seems. Still good to use anywhere that moisture/dirt may be encountered.

So i replaced the resistor and harness with the Dorman unit. Dorman seems more robust and the wires are at least 1 gauge thicker. Hopefully this is the last time dealing with this.

Solder. The butt connectors are junk.
