Hey folks! I have been gifted a 2005 Tocoma! It is a beautiful truck but it doesn't have a
    key (s)!
I called Triple A and was asked if the truck was on a two key system or if the ignition key and the door key were one in the same?
So my question is the same. Will the door key work for the ignition as well? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Looking forward

    Welcome to TW!

That is a good concern. If everything works out, the truck SHOULD be a one key system (unless the previous owner has replaced the locking mechanism on either doors, or installed a different ignition).

    Hello,
    Welcome to TW

My pre Tacoma, ( 1989 ) was a single key . My 2015 a single key. My 17 a key fob and a single tailgate key. So I’ll go on the limb and say YES. Single key

    Welcome to the forum!

Take proof of ownership and Vin number to dealership and they can cut a new key for you from factory records. Not cheap as there is a chip inside key that has to be synchronized to the ignition computer. Don’t know if the dealer can do that remotely or if they need the truck
