MESO Puddle Light build

A lot of those dealer settings, especially the light and locks, etc. can be accessed by the owner through the menu in the head unit.
I’m not sure if the one you’re looking for is, but worth a try.

 

Yea the manual states that only the dealer can change that setting.

 

Where are you located? There’s quite a few members here with setups like tech stream or carista that can change the settings. One could help you with that if you have someone local

 

Central PA. But with Kenetics help I figured it out. I took the passenger side door panel off because I didn’t reinstall the lock cable correctly. (oops) I did the same on the driver side just to double check everything, and after unplugging the window switches and reinstalling, everything works fine for me know! I had figured the problem was user error from the start and turns out that was the case! Thanks to everyone that had input trying to help me figure my problem out!

 

Excellent!! I continued to troubleshoot and soon noticed that my driver side was not actually locking when I pressed the key fob, but the other doors were. That's what clued me in and I realized it must have been that cable. Glad it was an easy fix for you as well.

 

Can’t wait until I get power to these! Everything is installed except the A-pillar harnesses, and both supply cables have been rang out with a multimeter. Hopefully my splitter will be here before the weekend.

Finally got around to installing the mirrors with the ditch lights and puddle lights I got from @20tacoma17

Still waiting on my switch pro to come in to hook up the ditch lights

Also swapped out all the speakers while I was in there , and pre wired my on touch passenger handle for the future.

 

If Meso makes those in mirror ditch lights, I would buy that.

 

So would a lot of people. I tried but the name means everything when you were that good.

 

Glad everyone likes these! There have been some cases of a few hiccups along the way; install error, defective product, packaging error, etc. But I am trying my best to get everyone taken care of and for the most part it’s been positive feedback.
The puddle switch is moving along. I have a sample and working on the T harness so it will work with my existing puddle kit. Once it’s all fine tuned and tested I can have my factory produce them
For anyone that missed out, I am working on another batch now(and 4Runner puddle kits) which should be posted this weekend.

I wouldn’t exactly say it’s easy. However, basic skills and common sense are all that’s required. Don’t get in a hurry.

Along with some awesome puddle lights, installing these presented a couple of other opportunities:
1. Upgraded my door speakers while I was in door panel. HUGE difference. I knew the factory speakers were “meh”, but I didn’t realize they essentially suck.
2. Got to learn more about my 3rd Gen Taco! Probably would’ve never had the need to take apart any of the things I did during the install, so that was a really cool experience for me.

 

I have the JBL upgrade in my taco....
did you have them also ? And if so, what speaker are you now with ?

 

What speakers did you go with???

I’m doing the install slow (snail pace). I’m adding sound deadener and upgrading the stock speakers too. I’m done with passenger side. Tomorrow I’m going to tackle drivers side.

I bought the kicker speakers used from a member here along with the tweets. Did tweets a long time ago, definite upgrade there. The stock driver speaker has more bass. The kicker on the passenger side has less bass on same setting, but more treble. Will see how the system sounds once I have both sides done.

Just a couple of quick things on this though.
If I remember correctly, these will be mini switches like the OEM ECT button.
Will the leads on these be long enough to reach that area, or only the side panel by the cubby hole?

For anyone that is following @DSIM rock lights module as well, there is a new separate two way splitter in the works/testing to try and make the rock lights and puddle lights have separate @MESO switches to have individual control over each instead of all together.

 

Got mine installed the other evening. Took me about 3-4hrs. Very satisfied with them.

 

Wife wants puddles on her 4R now too.. she just doesn’t know it yet.

Shit.. they’re available. But I just noticed “must have existing lights in mirrors”. Don’t have existing lights..

 

I have the non-JBL factory sound system, that “looks” like the JBL without the badging.

I went with Kicker all the way around. Already had the Subaru/Kicker tweeters, so I went with

$85 Kicker 46CSC674 CS-Series CSC67 6.75" (165mm) Coaxial Speakers, 4-Ohm (Pair)

Kicker 46CSC674 6.75’s in the rear doors and Kicker 46CSC6934 6x9’s in the front doors. I’m not an audiophile purist by any means, but the difference in sound quality was profound to my ears. Sounds every bit as rich and full as the Bose Premium Sound in my wife’s Honda Crosstour now. The total cost was $150 from Crutchfield, which includes the mounting adaptors and harnesses. Factory speakers are one area Toyota obviously sacrifices for cost and weight.
