    Hello everyone,
I'm a first time Taco owner and am on this sight trying to resolve problems that I'm having with my new truck that has just over 1,000 miles on it. I'm kinda disappointed for the fact that I just traded in my last car and sold my ranger, both at a loss, to buy this $40K truck that has so many engineering problems that I'm wondering why they're so highly rated. This thing has a "jittery" feeling when driving down the highway and I'm not sure if it's the transmission or the suspension. It isn't noticeable at start up, but gets worse the longer the trip. Any suggestions?

Welcome to TW! Have you taken it back to the dealership to see what they say?

Welcome and I’m sorry to hear that. Majorly disappointing! It’s not too late to find a 2nd Gen.

Thanks. I was there yesterday complaining of the high pitched shrill of air noise coming through by the driver side window. As I was setting the appointment to get that looked at, I was taking a moment to complain about drive-ability concerns regarding the transmission shifting issues for which they had no suggestions. I needed to take a road trip and decided to get out on the freeway so I could get the speed up and see what it does at 70+/-. I noticed the jittery feeling on a different road trip, but thought it was just the road I was traveling, but it didn't get any better on the freeway. I tried changing the gear I was in to check for engine surging or misfire and eliminate the transmission as the culprit. Didn't change and was most noticeable in 6th when cruising at any speed over 40. Last truck I had that felt like this was a '91 Ford Ranger 4X4 with a bad transmission mount. I'll be bringing it up to them on my next visit, but there are several reviews that talk about the Tacomas being "jittery." I was really wondering if anyone has experienced/found/fixed the problem. I'm looking into finding a polyurethane transmission mount, but haven't found one as yet.

Thanks. It is truly disappointing as this is the first truck that I've bought new that I traded in my beautiful '17 Outback for. I read a ton of reviews and ratings about trucks and the Tacoma and Tundra were neck and neck with the GM offerings. I just couldn't bring myself to buy a GM product after what I've seen them push out the factory as new. I simply don't trust them. I didn't want another Ford as they went all turbo on their engines which would severely reduce the lifespan of the truck and I plan on owning this thing for at least a decade. If I have to change vehicles again, I'll go back to having a new car and an old truck. I was hoping that I could reduce my payments and insurance by owning only one vehicle to do it all. Maybe another one of my life mistakes.

Unfortunate to hear of the issues. Do you feel this is not suspension related? I only ask b/c I've driven a number of new stock trucks, and sometimes the suspension doesn't feel perfectly balanced. And my solution may sound like a band-aid, but sometimes I've been able to simply change the stance in front (which slightly shifts the weight) and had the leveled truck suspension make a big difference.

I have never driven a 3rd Gen but I would have sure driven it before I bought it. Anyway its a truck not a sports car. Take it back and get the Supra. O yea welcome. lol

I'm not entirely convinced that it's not the suspension, or at least related to it, but it vibrates the whole truck like something heavy is jumping. I'll be putting a load in the truck in the next week or so and see if anything changes during that drive. Sooner or later, I'll sort it out but it makes the truck kinda tedious to drive for long periods. I'll post a fix for it if I get it sorted out.
