    Well technically speaking all you have to do is print the PDF to get you in the clear for smog, you hand it to the tech and you'll be problem free. Of course, most smog techs who actually stare out the window with greater insight than my dog should recognize that TRD is a division of Toyota so anything they make has the legal recognition to bear it's name on Toyota vehicles across all 50 states.

    I originally bought mine in the supercharger group buy as well. I also did the. Bully Dog tune. The truck ran like shit so I took it easy on things until I could figure it out.

    What fixed the problem in my case was getting another ECU from the junk yard and then flashing the junk yard ECU with the TRD tune from Toyota. The truck ran great immediately afterward.

    I haven’t but I’m sure the dyno guy has. To give you an idea I have full boost all the way to red line if I take off the vacuum line. So fuel is not the issue. It’s weird.

    I’m curious what parameters BullyDog changed in the TRD tune to make the truck run lean? Like they went out of their way to screw up a good thing.

    Sufficient fuel to the injectors is wholly independent of injectors feeding the cylinders required fuel.

    I feel like we're going in circles at points.

    What is your tuner using to tune your ECU?

    Does this problem exist with petrol and whatever fuel you are currently using?

    Does the new fuel require more fuel for the same power because it is less energy dense?

    Are there trouble codes for the automatic trans? (If so, fix that problem so that you have one less problem.)

    What are your AFR's when it cuts out at 3500?

    Otherwise, if you cannot simply answer those questions, then pull the vacuum hose off of the bypass valve and live in bliss.

    I'm very familiar with bullydog in the diesel world. Their tunes come with no engine safe guards and are very famous for making engines paper weights. So I would suggest to make it a sticky somewhere on the first page advising against using the bullydog tuner since we hear more issues with the bullydog tune vs the 90l trd reflash. At least the 90l is more consistently rich than lean from previous experience anyway. On the plus side I'm planning on the taking the taco outta dd duty to work on the transmission prior to boost.

    Let's talk about spark plugs again. OE form when we were NA had two different plugs on bank 1 and 2. The real question is was one a hotter heat range and the other colder? If so, should we perhaps consider stepping up heat ranges to a cooler plug on bank 2 due to hotter temperatures on that bank?

    Depends what your definition of rough is. Are those plugs recommended on page 1? And are they copper, iridium, platinum, ruthenium?

    How many miles on the truck and have you ever replaced the coils before?

    yes they are recommended over the oe denso ihk22.
    you can feel a shaking slightly, like a random misfire. but no code no drive-ability issues. and great once off idle.

    Ahh yes. I looked back and saw it now. I still need to know how many miles on the truck and I need to know if this happened right after the spark pkug swap. You have an 06 and those have known head gasket issues so there are multiple variables at play here and coils are on the table depending how many miles you have on the truck and if they are still original. If those can be ruled out, then compression and cylinder leakage tests are the next inspection.

    Cylinders 5 and 6 run the hottest. Should those have a different range than the rest?

    I don't know. Those are definitely the hottest since they are covered most and get tons of irradiated heat from close by. Do you think it's worth exploring?

    I tried this and my SMOG tech wouldn't accept it. If you goto dealer they can order sticker. YOu used to be able to contact Toyota direct but they make you go through dealer now. cost me like $13

    Honestly, I use one range like all of us common folk here. Except I run additional fuel in those cylinders and less timing in them as well. Individual cylinder trims FTW!
