So I changed my oil yesterday and when I popped the hood I noticed a bunch of corrosion on the battery terminals. I removed both sides and wire brushed and sprayed with a corrosion inhibitor and also put those little oil pad things on them. Now my truck has no power or throttle response until I step on it. Thinking maybe I should remove and reset the negative wire? Ran fine before I did this.

give it a gas tank to redo fuel and timing trims.

    bad battery connections probably

remove battery terminal connections, clean, dry, and reinstall but don't use any goop, crap, or 'oil pad things'

also check the wiring from the battery downstream to look for other issues on the wires/harness/body ground possibly being loose

It has nothing to do with the battery connection. Ecu is relearning all the sensors. I would also remove the maf sensor and clean that. If that’s dirty the ecu will have a harder time. It should get smoother soon

Also, just wanna make sure you actually drained oil..... there have been a good chunk of people that drain the trans pan. Then fill the engine with oil... leaving the trans 3 quarts low and the engine with 2x the oil it needs.

it might...op said he messed with batt terminals

when ECU is cleared by disco battery, it does need to relearn yes, but usually doesn't behave as badly
as OP states. a bad battery connection will. also yes to who said clean the MAF. dirty maf and cleared ECU
can cause issues that a clean MAF and cleared ECU won't have

Can the truck learn your driving style?

Why wouldn't a truck drive the same regardless of who is driving it?

Put transmission into learn mode - may need a jumper as some battery cable arrangements may be too short:

    From toyotanation.com - Dealer tech

Disconnect the battery ground and wait 10 seconds. Touch the ground to the positive and hold there for 10 seconds. Wait 5 minutes. Repeat the ground to positive for 10 seconds and then reconnect. This puts it into learn mode. Take it on an aggressive test drive on a freeway.

    From tacomaworld.com - Dealer tech

He did not agree with the "aggressive test drive" mentioned above. Here are his comments:

Doing the battery cable stuff will erase the memory, but you don't want to do an aggressive test drive. You want to let it warm up fully after starting, then drive with light to more moderate throttle in a stop & go pattern. Like a neighborhood. This allows the ecu to learn how much time is needed to shift each gear as it compensates for wear in the transmission. After about 10 miles, you're done. Then you can drive how you please. You never want hard throttle during any relearn because all memory has been erased, shifting, knock learn, ignition timing, fuel trim. Everything's been set to base setting & hard throttle will not learn anything because it's going to max out all values to produce maximum engine torque.

That makes more sense. The truck needs to relearn how to operate as it should.

If the terminals are on tight enough to start the truck fine, then there should be any problems. The truck runs off the alternator once it’s running. Not the battery.

I thought sure this was going to be another drained trans thread, but I just looked at the OPs other posts and he did that on his 1st oil change 5 months ago. Nobody could do that twice, could they? LOL

As the day went on it got a little better. I can't pattern it. Its fine when I'm at speed. Its mostly after a stop or when I have to gas it

Can you post some up close photos of the battery terminals? I wouldn't work on anything else until we can closely inspect what you have already done. Did you also remove the negative wire to the chassis, on the inside fender?

Also, put a voltage meter on the battery or one that plugs in the cig lighter. At idle you should see 13.5 + volts.
