I've heard too many horror stories about transmission flushes (and tranny flushes).

I dont know the back story about the particular transmission in question, mainly because I'm not motivated enough to go back through and read potentially 20+ pages of this thread.

Check the color. If it is brown, it needs changed.
If getting it flushed, (from what I can remember) there is a way to do it that wont necessarily kick up any metal or dirt into the transmission actually creating problems in the future.
I think this is forced flush, where they suck the old out of the bottom while pushing new in under force.

I've always been told to simply have it serviced correctly by pulling the pan and having all parts inspected and then new fluid put in. I understand this can be more costly.

I could also be WAY off with new technologies being deployed on today's automatic transmissions.

I'm told that when you go to get a tranny flush, they take yer dingus off and you don't know which bathroom to use anymore. I think I'll just stick to oil changes thanks.

Safe mentally or physically? You need to be direct and explicit with me Brother. I can't multitask too well. Hell, I can barely walk and chew gum. :cookiemonster:

WOW! That is crazy! I have, on occasion, been ripped by habaneros. I can't imagine eating a Ghost or a Reaper!
That is tough way to learn.

Do these look like Red Ghost peppers? I know they haven't turned color yet (assuming they will). I ask because I have found mis-marked veggies from the nursery every year...

It's tough to say, I'm a bad judge of peppers by their appearance (obviously, LOL). The one on the right almost looks like a bhut jolokia!

I guess there's one way to find out... :bananadead::bananadead:

Including what I've read on here about the probability of the 3rd Gen fluid being under by nearly a half a quart, here is my experience with Tranny's and Flushes.

I bought a new 2005 Dodge Diesel, bought new when I moved up to the country because everyone of my friends told me it would be indispensable for country life, and last forever. I occasionally hauled my Road King in the bed for bike week and once I towed one of those cement carts to my buddies place (about a 30 min drive, no serious hills). Yes I drove it like I stole it most of the time but it was an automatic and technically never abused it.

So at about 60ish some thousand miles, maybe closer to 70 while it was at the dealer getting a service I inquired about the flush and fill. The guy said it was more but it a better process because of how as Q said, they fill as they force drain. I paid the money, more than $200 bucks, and went on my way. At about 80k miles It started shifting oddly. Ultimately it started to smoke and was burning up the tranny. I immediately took to a specialty place and had to pay $1200 to have it rebuilt. The guy there said that he tells people that unless you do it consistently before reaching 60K miles to not ever do it. He said that the chances of you having leaks are more likely. Unless of course there is evidence it needs it in later stages. He said for I traded the truck for my Tundra within the month after that. Other things were starting to give out too, dash indicator lights, etc. Minor shit you'd expect but I was ready to let it go.

So, moving along to this 3rd Gen Taco I am at about 32k miles and since it doesn't have a dip stick for me to check the level or condition of the fluid I am contemplating taking it to the same place (the people there were absolutely fantastic, and couldn't be more honest and transparent) and have them flush it, and ensure it is filled to the correct level. I have read that the absolute best fluid to use is OEM Toyota ATF.

However, I will likely take their recommendation to heart. I am a fan of full synthetics like either Royal Purple, Redline or Amsoil. But with moden engines and transmissions I prefer to stick with whatever the manufacturer says to use.

Of course I would have to drop my skids to get this service so if I am getting it done it will be when I change the axle and transfer case fluids (myself).

This is why I was curious about a price.

It probably waterhemp the stalk turns reddish when it gets mature. Yes we have a lot of it. It has became tolerant to Round Up. Dicamba will toast it but it as a spray has its draw backs. After it is sprayed on a field and the weather conditions are right it will turn back into a gas and float into another field or orchard and toast everything in its path.
