Hello so some of you probably gonna say just buy a new one but everyplace I called wanted 4-600$ for a new one and used was 200+ but here's my scenario
I have a 02 tacoma for awhile I've had a small gas leak at full than 3/4 than eventualy 1/2 tank well after work I dropped the tank a few days back to see if I could find the leak well while rubbing the dirt off i knocked some rust off the bottom and cause a leak on the bottom of the tank tried a self tapper to plug the hole but made it worse so I got a rubber crush plug (drain plug) drilled a hole to 3/4 to make it fit and temporarily fixed the leak so with the holiday weekend coming and finaly having a day off I wanted to find a new tank NO ONE had one new or used for a week finaly a friend said he has a 99 for parts and I could have the tank well took it out than took mine out and noticed a few differences but it would fit but the filler neck was different so I soldered up a pipe to the neck on the tank off the 99 to make fit mine but now I'm having a breathing problem the tank wont vent and I have to put fuel in super slowly has anyone else ever done this and why am I having such a problem I blew threw all the lines and everything was clear and hooked the lines back up best I could but I would think the hose that connects to the tank rite next to the filler pipe would vent the tank but fuel keeps backing up the neck and I gotta let it sit than add more and keep doin this till I'm done

I have an ‘01 tank from a TRD Tacoma I’ll sell for $100, which should be identical to your ‘02. I’m in NC. Where are you currently?

I'm out of breath just reading that opening post.

Anyway, hope you can find a decent tank for a good price.

Also, if you have a rusted out fuel tank, I hope you are examining the frame well, because that's the real weak spot. Be a shame to put in a new fuel tank and have a broken frame a few days later.

@Tacoma250r Something else to look for. Does your filler area have that metal flap still? I had a Ford Escape that the spring broke or the pin just fell out and the metal piece was sitting in the neck obstructing flow enough I could only fill .6 gal before the pump would shut off on me
