Looks like the previous owner of my truck left the oem audio plus setup minus the subwoofer that goes behind rear seat. I may have a buyer for part of the subwoofer harness.

Is there any value in the amp that’s under the seat? I’m debating removing it because I don’t have the sub installed

I think the amp runs the rest of the speakers too.... so you might want to leave it in there if you are not replacing everything already.

Correct, the under seat amp is for the door speakers.

I’d see if you can contact them and order just the sub. I think the oem audio+ system is legit. The stock Tacoma sound system is absolute garbage.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the subwoofer wire itself is a separate harness. The reason I ask is someone is wanting to buy just the sub wire from me

I don’t have details on the wiring, other than the entire system is plug and play for wiring with the stock system.

You can always buy another sub setup and wire it into the system though. I think the integration with this system makes it worth it.

I would not sell the harness. Keep it and just buy a passive subwoofer (one without a amp). Then you can plug in the sub to the harness thats run to the back.

Hmm I was thinking about doing that. There are two plugs in my rear compartment that go to the subwoofer. I can’t remember exactly but each plug had 4 to 6 wires. Why does the sub have that many wires going to it

I’m thinking about that but how would I know which sub would plug right in?

No idea lol. That’d be a question for them.

You would cut off the plugs and just use the bare wire. The subwoofer is a dual voice coil, so there should be 4 wires, 2 + and 2 -

Look at the colors of the wires, then chase them back to the amp. Or, if you really want to figure out what each one is doing, grab a old speaker and some alligator clips... then start plugging them in till you get sound.

But, I think the 2 plugs are designed for the dual sub systems. The base system is the same as the dual sub system, but without the second subwoofer. But its all wired for the second subwoofer.

Anything dual voice coil that comes in around 100 watts rms. I would go with a 8 inch one.
