Nope. Hit 60 started looking for cabins. Hot water, shower, shitter, and a real bed. All under one roof.

Friend of mine that is retired and hunting birds in Montana right now figured out he couldn't afford the gas to haul his camper there and back plus all the daily running around. So is in a tent right now, and hard storms came through night before last. Texted me this will be his last time doing the tent thing.

Lessons learned, #1 enough medical coverage to retire. #2 enough money to not have to live in a tent when you retire. I'll be working until I am farting dust.

Good morning.

It’s 80° and muggy here.

We rescued a cat on Monday (previous owner is going through a divorce and having to relocate, can’t afford a place that will take a cat) and she still is trying to find her comfort zone. She’s 6 years old and a sweety. She’s eating and drinking fine, she’s just still wary of the other cats.

Was just talking to Mitch's (youngest son) FIL at dinner out celebrating Mitch's work promotion last night. If I fully retired I'd just want to hunt and fish all the time, or as much as possible anyway. I'd likely be operating in the red inside a couple years. Might be sliding back to my original thoughts when I retired from active duty...don't actually retire, just see how many retirement checks I can get coming in every month.

Was hard to like this, but me too. I can start drawing SS in less than a year but everyone including financial advisers tell me it would be smarter to wait. Haven't always made the smartest decisions in life so I am listening more now than I used to. 67 for sure I am done. Then again I work with a retried Sr. Chief and he told me he is going to 70. So have to see what the future brings.

Damn that is nice! Have a friend that is a Seebee (USN RET) and I bet he could build something as nice as that

A lot nicer than my setup I am good for a couple of days with the dog back there but that is it.



My friend in Montana does have me thinking about my Bighorn tent though. I can set it up by myself and make camp in less than an hour.





And really isn't bad. Last time I used it took me 4 hours in a driving rain to break camp though. But if I wasn't in a hurry to get back to work... Pretty sure the days of doing it in the snow and using the wood stove are over however.





Yep just looking at the snow under the wood stove makes my bones hurt.
