looks to be common for the black roof moldings to come off at car washes etc.

Do you use double sided tape or some type of adhesive to fix such as a super glue or silicone?

    Thanks in advance TW forum

Just had mine come off in a car wash. Dealer wanted over $100 for one strip of molding... No thanks! Now I'm shopping around for roof racks instead.

Thanks for the reply. Mine are on... loosely. Thinking of 3m 30lb double sided tape or some black silicone or even gorilla super glue....

    Opinions welcome

You're lucky that you noticed before they were gone! I'd use some 3m double sided tape.

Are you guys going through car washes with the brushes?

Did you ask the dealer about warranty? Toyota may not realize it's an issue until their are warranty claims.

I used some good 3m double stick tape, doubled up to fill the void, took 60 seconds to fix.

If mine comes off, I am using clear silicone. I would dread taking off that 3M tape if I decide to install a roof rack in the future. Silicone comes off fairly easy.

Mine flew off on the highway at some point and i got them to warranty replace it on my Gen 2 lol.

They asked about car washes... I said of course not! They ordered one and had it replaced on warranty free.

I definitely don't do car washes anymore in my Gen 3 though. Touchless or hand wash is all i do now. Cash washes kill your paint.

My ‘18 had double sided tape under the mouldings already. I removed them and cut them down for a rack.

Use 3M double sided tape... It's a 30K+ truck that is almost new.
What happens if you want to install a roof rack or whatever and you've got the strip glued in place. Even though kind of hack, silicone would be better.

Used Gorilla glue construction on the strip and super glue on the clips. Works great

My roof moldings have now come off twice in car washes. Watched them fly loose during the blow dry cycle. Tried some 3M marine adhesive that didn't work. I'll let the dealer handle it at my upcoming 5k service.

I would use silicone to put it back on a cheap and quick fix.
