That's a big wrong. Can you back up your statement? Has this happened to anyone?

Here is one of many articles you can investiagte. As someone with a buddy who has the 2018 and flashed OvTune, his 1.05 was detected last week at the dealership.

Is that the website where all the non-idiot members go to post? First I've seen or heard of it.

    I'm shocked.

This has never, ever been reported on Tacoma World.

    Thanks for letting us know!

I think only the initial release of 1.05 altered the ECU ID. I believe in later releases Mat reverted back to maintaining the stock ECU ID.

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
So flash it back to stock before you take it in for warranty work. It's not a difficult concept.

If you read further, some ECUs can’t handle repeated flashes and that is not an option unless you wanna replace the ecu after X amount of flashes.

The real answer is, don’t completely change the programming of a 40,000 dollar truck until the warranty is expired, or potentially fight warranty voidment by doing it anyway.

If the truck’s tranny was that bad Toyota would have an update or a recall. If you don’t like it - ya shouldn’t have bought it, or just live with it till the warranty is out. Or take risks and flash custom software to the ECU like OVTune and see how much more complicated life gets.

OVTune is great, and I am looking forward to the four banger release for my truck. But it ain’t gonna get flashed till my warranty is expired and it’s aa responsible time to start modifying anything I want. For now the truck runs at factory spec and I will keep it that way like a thankful, grateful human being who has a fully capable truck.

To each their own. Knowledge helps make wiser decisions, that’s why I shared the risk.

If your in slow moving traffic doing only 25 then flip it over to S mode and leave it in 4th or drop it to 3rd. It wont go to 6th gear. Get rolling again and flip it back.
You do have some control in limiting it's max high gear.

Well my 19 was having some off and on issues with odd shifts but was better than my 16. It was a qt + low new looked at 1500 miles . Recently had the 19 checked it was a 1/2 qt low at 5000. After getting it filled to proper level the fuel mileage increased on both . Better shifts too.
