Wondering what DMZ's part number is from Deaver. Unless its just a completely its own leafpack that Tim calls Deaver and says he needs to order a couple of sets.

Can anyone else comment on this? Maybe someone from experience or we all love pictures... I only have ~2000 lbs (plus max of 500 in gear in bed) I tow a couple times a summer. Hoping I can have my LT cake and eat it too.

Obviously this guy has a whole truck and a dirt bike in the back, but if its going to look like this with 2500lbs I'll have to stick to deaver U402s for now haha:

Based on what I have seen you are going to sag pretty bad with any weight over what the SUA springs are rated for (Most are stock weight only). I am in the same boat where I need to tow on occasion. I am just about finished with my DMZ install and I opted to install a floating airbag kit on mine for the times when I have to tow.

I have a daystar cradle mounted to the axle just inside the frame rail. When I need to tow I have an upper bracket (with the airbag attached) that will bolt to the frame in about 5 minutes. I then just inflate the airbag to whatever I need based on what I am towing and go. The down travel isn't limited at all. The up travel is limited by an internal bump stop built into the airbag.

When I get to where I am going and want to use the truck I simply unhook the trailer and unbolt the airbags and the truck is back to full long travel with no up travel or down travel restrictions.

I am just about finished with the install so I will make sure to post pics here when I am done for future reference.

What would y’all think of towing with a 4-link system with ORI struts? Supposedly they’ve been making strides with keep the temps down(fins, bigger reservoir) and you would be able to stiffen them up pretty easy to tow and then hook up your tank and let the pressure out and go have fun

Thank you Sir. Long travel and air bags is a sick setup. Definitely want to see pics of how you set it up once it's done.

How's that install coming? I'm in the same situation and the setup you are doing is ideal!

I believe he completed it a few months back. The dmz rear is a nice set up.

DMZ kit has been on for awhile. I have really enjoyed it. I also have towed with it a few times. Like I mentioned before I have the truck all setup to use airbags when towing but haven't actually added them. The DMZ kit with an extra leaf doesn't squat bad at all with normal loads in my 7' x 14' trailer so I have just run it like that. This winter when things slow down I will finish up adding in the airbags.

couldn’t be more right. Hard to find any small shops that seem competent to do a LT install on the east coast. I went with Mainline Overland in West Chester, PA. TC +2 expedition kit and TC SUA on HD Deaver packs about 12” front 10” rear travel with a wilwood brake upgrade and a little maintenance work and I tapped out at $11.8k parts and a little over $8k in labor. Rear is stiff as a donkey. Starts to soften up at 500# or so. Investing in some memory foam race seats for those unloaded rides around town.

That was labor for suspension and supporting mods install. A lot of parts had to be welded like gusseting spindles, coil bucket reinforcement, rear shock hoops bolted & welded, limit strap mounts welded, cam bolt reinforced, paint etc. there’s a lot more than bolting parts on or else I would have done it hah. Some things had to be fixed upgraded like new rear brakes & shoes, front wilwood bbk install, carrier bolt spacer, alignment, etc. it adds up and never stops adding up. Still have yet to re-gear or trim fenders/get fiberglass which are some of the more important mods I’d like to get to soon.

I can’t speak to ANY authority of SUA/go fast rear LT stuff, but a 10” shock really doesn’t seem long enough. That’s stock shock stroke in my book, if you ever watch any TERRA CREW videos, you’d be hard pressed to ever see a truck with even 12’s, most have 14’s or longer. I realize the terra trucks are typically “very built” but 10 is just too short IMO

12 is about all you want to stuff under the bed, I've seen 14's but Tim uses 12's on in house DMZ builds with his kit and they work well - 16's are for going through the bed with a bed cage.

Not trying to pile on, but it sounds like you got shafted, even by California prices standards. For reference, I had my TC rear SUA installed and custom bed cage built and installed for like $1600 total. That includes homie pricing, but that's the whole rear end labor. Front gussets and whatnot was maybe $600. Hopefully they did a killer job on the install at least :notsure:

Stock length is 8ish" on a Tacoma and 9ish" on the Tundra. This varies per manufacturer but just for conversation purposes.

I agree with 10" being short for an SUA but a 12 or maybe 14" shock is the largest you're going to fit without cutting the bed like @Dalandser said.

Yeah that's what we were able to pull out of my 16" bypasses with the TC kit, but it'll be revisited when I get DMZ or similar

oh yeah the shop definitely got their money’s worth.. they claim to have gotten word from TC that this is the setup I need although I’m not totally happy with it. The rear is brick stiff with hd springs and the front only has 600# springs which feels good up front but doesn’t match the rear even with a good amount of weight. I must have had to load 30 bags of soil in the bed before I felt a real difference. I really insisted that I wanted 2.5 12” triple bypass shocks but apparently they ordered 10” 2.5 double bypass and wanted to make me pay a 20% restocking fee. So here we are.
