Fender Flare Restore

I have a red Tacoma - didn't know how to post picture but looks like this. The top part of the Plastic Fender Flares are very faded - almost white - any way to clean them up and get the red finish back ? Any response appreciated.

 

You could wet sand/polish. There’s a bunch of videos on YouTube that show the step by step

I was quoted $75 each to repaint just to give you another option.

 

I would search “wetsand faded fenders” in google, a few videos and other write-ups will show up. Can’t recommend a specific video, the process is pretty consistent all around

Depending on how old your truck is and how perfect you want it, you could repaint it with a color matched can from Advanced Auto or Oriellys. $15-20.

I did my fuel filler cover when I bought the truck as it was so rusted it was falling off. Bought a new one that came primed, painted, and clear coated after it dried, and it came out nice.

May not be what you want for a 5 year old truck, but at nearly 15 it works for me.

 

Thanks. Guess I'd have to prep it - prime it - paint it - clear coat it - sounds like work doesn't it ? I was wondering if the OEM plastic was white painted Red or is the plastic it self red ?

 

@george3 Yes thats the way I did it. Just make sure each layer is dry before adding another one
