Hello everyone, new member here. I bought a 2008 SR5 TRD OR DCSB 4x4 a couple weeks back. Today I was sitting in a long line at the Walgreens drive thru when I noticed my AC wasn't blowing cold although it was cranked to high. I turned it off and back on to high, the air coming out was real warm. Then a loud hiss began coming from the front of my truck and there was a cloud of gas, I assume refrigerant. I shut the air off and drove home thinking my AC system was hosed and I'd lost all my refrigerant. I have an old can of AC pro, so I turned the air back on high, and noticed it is blowing super cold. I attached the can of AC pro so I could read the pressure gauge. It read right in the middle of the green. Not overpressurized or underpressurized. Should I worry about things, or just drive the dang truck? I have Toyota extra care, so I could take it in and have the dealership look at it. But I'd rather not if it's nothing to worry about. Thanks!

AC isn't really a DIY item. If my truck did that and I had a warranty it would be at the dealer.

This exact thing just happened to me at McDonald's. I know its antifreeze that got sprayed though due to it being the special green color. Once I got it home though and let it sit I have cold ac again and no coolant is dripping anywhere. The sound was like a loud sudden hissing with steam coming out from under the hood. It lasted for a few seconds and then just stopped, almost as if it was relieving pressure. :-/
