Curious: Why do people still black out license plates when posting pics of their vehicles?

Turn it into a poll, maybe with these answers:

    1. Public identity issues.

    2. Everyone else does it.

    3. Don’t want the boss to see me here when I should have been working.

    4. Hiding my stuff from the bank.

    5. Hiding my stuff from my ex.

    6. Hiding my stuff from my wife!

Same reason they don't post other personal information,
    They want to remain anonymous

Maybe they want to trade that vehicle in for a VW Atlas.

Peoples standard logic when discussing how pointless it is to blackout your license plate- “everyone else on the road can see it, don’t be so paranoid”

The ACTUAL logic- if you frequently piss people off on the internet, it’s best not to advertise all your info. Basic fucking internet rules.

Do you have the link where I can look up info? I just did a quick google and typed in my plates and it told me my truck is White, an automatic, made in mexico. All completely false. But did not list any of my personal ID

    Here we go again...

If you wanna keep your identity "secret" then you do you. No harm; no foul.

    BUT

Your plate is seen by ~10,000 strangers a day, and who have way more motive for action (cutting them off, they don't like your 3rd gen, no reason at all, etc) than random people on a truck enthusiast site.

Other upside: If someone wants to brain you with a baseball bat for some silly thing in morning traffic, they are gonna do it there. On ultra rare occasion would someone actually take the time and effort to personally look you up via plate number.

Every once in a while somebody will read this forum that gets really pissed at your opinion. I'd rather not have a box of flaming feces priority shipped to my door. (Unless I'm participating in the human-centipede giveaway. People that participate in that thread should absolutely expect a box of flaming poo. )
