You mentioned a 4.0L, but just let me throw this out there anyway. I went from a "98" reg cab 2.4L 4X4 5 spd. to a 2013 reg.cab 2.7L 4X4 auto. I was very happy with the "98", not as happy with the 2013. The 2013 seems very weak, compared to the old "98", not sure why, possibly the auto. trans., but it is kind'f disappointing to drive. It never sees a hill it doesn't start downshifting on, most all the time shifts down twice. Also the 2013 seems more, car'ish, light & plasticky (my new words), the old "98" felt a lot more truck'ish, solid & sturdy. A buddy of mine bought my old "98" Taco, he laughs at me regularly as he is tickled to death with the old "98", while he sees I'm kind'f disappointed with my 2013. He gets a kick out of offering to trade his old "98" even for my "2013".
