I have the 5MT and the throttle nanny-delay is still there. Toyota really screwed the pooch when they tuned these trucks. I guess they assume no one can drive responsibly anymore.

@bigere Based on your description, I’m not comprehending a problem. I owned a 2.7L DCSB with an automatic transmission for several months. I knew exactly what I was getting into as far as power output of the engine, so I avoided complaining about acceleration, power. The engine is slow and steady.

Mine is a 5sp so cant blame the transmission, but there are times when the thing acts like the timing is retarded a bunch and wont get out of its own way. Sometimes on the same hill on my commute i can carry the peed limit in 4th and sometimes i’m in 3rd and cant hardly get to the speed limit. Something is off electronically in these things. I live with it because i am sure they could never diagnose it.

LOL both the v6 and the 4 are turds. One is a simple, reliable turd.

Throttle response is the issue with the sluggishness imho. Drive with the ect mode on...feels like a different truck

You get what you pay for. I absolutely do not have the funds to get a 6 cyl. so I settled for a 4 cyl.. It does lack power yes, but I knew this when I was getting the truck. I mean for around 21k for a brand new truck, the 4 cyl. does it's job. I have no intentions for racing anyone, just needed a truck for work. Ever thought about maybe some mods to change the throttle response, exhaust, intake, etc.? Might give you a little extra power?

I love my 4. Great power down low and I’m turning 32in LTs. Is it a rocket? No...but it’s pretty good and damn near indestructible

I added a sprint booster, set it on sport #9, removed the controller head, and it's slick as owl droppings.
