Throttle response seems a bit better. The scoop is AFE and the hoses I got from intakehoses.com. There’s no drone cruising.

Minus the cost difference. Throttle response seems a bit better. There’s no drone.

I got the hoses from intakehoses.com. The scoop is from AFE. The silicone hoses are 4” to 3.5” reducers and the carbon fiber tube is 3.5” diameter and 6” long. The stock intake box is 4” and so is the AFE scoop.

Quick question , is there a way for water to get in thru the scoop? I live in the Pacific Northwest and it’s rainy 8 months out the year. Just wondering before I try this setup out.
    Thank you...

I don’t think so. Unless you going through rivers, lol. I’ve been through a lot of rain and noticed no spuddering.

Even if you gained 10 WHP from a intake, you aren't going to feel it in these bricks.

The funnel shape seems like it should feed more air but in reality a passive scoop just doesn’t do dick. Any extra air(more than the narrowest cross section) just backs up and flows around it. Unless you’re going close to 180 mph there just isn’t any significant air compressing going on. Looks super cool though.

Or cowl induction if you don’t want the big hole and A-pillar schlong,

From what I've been reading from numerous posts. Is that the only real benefit of an air intake is to prolong the life of your air filter, if you exposing your vehicle to a lot of road dust.

Somewhere on the forum - there is a picture of an interesting variant - that took a bit of work, but a really good idea. The factory intake chamber inside the fender was piped by 4.0 tubing up to the passenger end of the cowl. So it would easily pass a visual inspection (invisible so to speak) - but was taking air from the upper air box.

When down-sizing the tubing from 4.0 inches to 3.5, take note that the reduction in cross sectional area is going to jack up the airspeed in the tube. So for instance, at 350 CFM flow through 4.0 ID tube would be 67 feet per minute - and the same 350 CFM would be 87 feet per minute with a 3.5 ID tube. Drag - flow resistance in the passage increases exponentially with speed so it will be more than the 30% change in speed.
