    Hey y'all,

New to the area, just moved to Carlsbad from Florida. I was surprised to see the amount of Tacos cruising around SoCal - it was a pleasant surprise!

With all the taco activity I was hoping I could get some advice and suggestions. I've been looking around for areas locally (within 3 hours) that provide off-road/trail camping. I've been having some difficulty determining the protocol here in California regarding the legality of this hobby. Back in Florida we could pretty much cruise onto any state park trail and set up a camp site or sleep in the truck bed without restriction.

I've been doing some research and it looks like Cleveland National Forest has similar options regarding the Corral Canyon OHV trails. Has anyone been there and can speak to that?

I'm also open to any other suggestions or recommendations around here. Seems like most of the "camping" results I have found are parking lot camping style. I'm looking more for the off road style where I can sleep in the bed of my truck or a tent and enjoy the elements.

    Cheers.

Pretty much any us forest road is good to go for dispersed camping unless stated otherwise..also don’t plan on having a campfire unless you are actually at a pay campground with a host
