Who in the area would want to meet up this Sunday (9/1) for a trail ride in Vinton County (Tar Hollow State Park)?

I’m think of meeting up off of 71N right by the outlet mall. Exit 65 toward Washington CH. We would meet there around 9:00 am.

So I’m going with a 12” smooth body shock for the rear. I have the Deavers S3 springs, BAMF HD Hangers as well as the shock relocation on order. Now all I need are the right shocks.

Since I have Fox on the front I immediately looked there. I think the heavy duty 7/8” shaft version would be most appropriate.

    https://accutuneoffroad.com/product/fox-2-0-smoothie-shock-78-shaft-remote-reservoir-12-travel/

However these seem expensive. So, looking around I’ve found the Bilstein 7100.

    https://www.marlincrawler.com/suspension/shock-equip/bilstein-7100-series

These are significantly less expensive and Marlin Crawler swears by them. Who else has experience with the 7100’s in this forum?

This past Sunday, the wife, myself and J.Boogie (Jasper... one of my dogs) made a day trip back out to Vinton County. Now that I had found a couple new "roads" I wanted her to get to experience them. Armed with my new (paper) county engineers map showing all of the unpaved roads in the area, as well as Gia GPS we set off on our whirlwind adventure.

I will admit, I was a little nervous since we were going solo with very little recovery equipment or recovery experience combined with a relative wet weekend. Once in the area, we make our way back to the original trail we missed the previous weekend. The road is Twp Hwy 11 or Albright Trail. It's fairly deceiving at first as it's a dirt road that drops in and back out a small creek. Once up past the level ground you make a sharp right hand turn up the primary climb. Check out my video (I really need to learn to edit my own, as this cuts out most of the good stuff)

    https://youtu.be/qdXZ4jQRgDg

Once through, we started off toward Pole Ridge Road. It's a less technical trail with mostly flat grade and inclines. It's a good ride and has beautiful views. I shot another video here and again used the GoPro app to make the video.

    https://youtu.be/qGFi2YJC_1g

We evaluated crossing over Salt Creek to enter Lady Run Road but with the recent rain, we weren't 100% confident that the creek was safe to cross so we decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

The last trail we travel was down Twp Hwy 13B. This is another fun trail. It relative mild and offers a few technical spots where I was pretty sure the ascent we went down was going to drive the front bumper directly into the ground. All in all, it was a great day on the trails. A fun time spent with the wife and altogether was a perfect ending to a great long weekend.

It was great meeting another member of the forums @Jibbs!

First, thanks for the purchase of some of my excess gear! But more importantly, thanks for sticking around to talk trucks for a few and to offer up your help (as well as others on this forum) with future truck projects! I believe you mentioned: @presta24 @beertimecontinuum @dirty deeds @mwc273

    Anyone else??? :thumbsup::D

Good call. I’ve already got the motor off and started researching parts to freshen it back up. I’ll be sand blasting a bunch of the parts to take down the color scheme. Looks like a clown car at the moment.

For those curious why we’re talking about go-karts. I picked one up in a trade today. I’m just a big kid at heart!

I need to clear more room in the garage and storage unit... please buy my surplus gear! I need a new set of 12" rear shock for the new setup.

Anyone around here need another spare steel wheel? I have one for sale in the marketplace section...but if you want to come to pick it up I am VERY negotiable!

I have a NEW Rightline truck bed tent for the 5.5' (SB) Tacoma. Click HERE.

Also, have another HARDIGG Footlocker Military Storage Case. Click HERE.

I've got a Hitch Bike Rack "DoubleDown 4" made by YAKIMA in like-new condition just sitting in our storage unit. Click HERE.

Lastly, I am going to be pulling the OME Dakar medium-duty springs (Spring rate: 149 / 482, 2.75" lift - EL095R) and the rear Fox 2.0 Performance Series shocks w/ Reservoir (2-3" lift - 985-24-117) very soon. Who wants dibbs?

The good news. It wasn’t me... just one of the Jeeps in my group. More importantly, no one was hurt.
