Whut did you bother cutting out the structural support? It looks like everything is surface level.

Had to in order to use the subaru block off. Will be welding the structural support of the stock hood to subaru structural support. Removed the least amount as possible to fit everything in, and probably should remove a little more

    I like it!

It reminds me of my '86 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. I swapped one of the scooped hoods from an '88 onto it and added the top-mount intercooler. It was great!

Update: my ‘welding skills’ which were only somewhat reasonable in 2000 are now as polished as a cactus. Process is taking far longer than expected, but in the hour window here and there, progress is being made..very, very, very slowly

    Scoop is welded in well
enough for a test run. No kite effect at 75 without the scoop air block in the underside - at least not noticeably

Dipped the hood while it’s stored for the cold winter months. More grinding welding and body work in the spring.

Thanks Man! Steelies are the winter beaters, but I’m in agreement they don’t look terrible. 17” wheels are her jam.

Does adding a Subaru skewp mean that your Toyota motor is going to start spontaneously rattling, burning oil, and blowing head gaskets?

    (Kidding...)

In a related topic- my truck came with a backwards scoop...can it still be called a scoop or is it a "dump" at that point?
I removed it in order to help keep salt and detritus out of the engine bay. Came with both the OG hood and the modified one.

You will need to use some bondo to smooth things out. 86 SVO scoop on a stock GT hood. I did have a hole cut in it and it fed an open filter carburetor.

On a side note, I had a WRX as well. It takes a lot to make those scoops functional and even then, a lot of high HP cars move that intercooler to the front bumper anyway

You just cut the back end of the insert off and add some small bolts to hold down the screen

Just remember, open does not mean functional. At that point it will just make your engine filthy. My mustang engine used to always be filthy. If you are just looking for cooling, heat extractor vents will work a 1000 times better than a scoop. Mounting an intercooler up there is not exactly functional in and of itself! It’s still better in the front bumper. Haha! Sure does look cool, though. If you are good with 3D printing, I could see it being used for maybe a ram air style set up.

my WRX and how the intercooler is mounted for those who haven’t seen it. It works, but direct air in a front bumper is MUCH better
