Erhh doubt very much that topos are a family tradition LOL.

My Grandfathers hunting jacket which is now more than 100 years old.

And the 16 ga. Ithaca 37 which he gave me, shot my first deer, bird, bunnies and squirrels with it. Refinished it a couple of years ago. And still works like a champ.

    Tradition.

    Heritage.

Today I looked out the kitchen window and saw some turkeys about 75 yards behind the house. I was able to sneak within 20 yards for this picture.
Lower right is where dogs are buried. If you look close you can see the plastic black and white dog I have to mark Stars resting spot. I know she likes it there. Deer walk through all the time.

NicePost ! we always called it a hollow. thats neat the different names in other parts of the country. this new spot the only way to get one out is down the hollow. comes out to the road. then walk up to get the truck. way too steep to go back up hill.

Where the dogs are buried is a special place. I remember Star well. Way to tug at my hear strings. One of these days I need to buy a piece of pie from Stockholm pie Company. But I am also up to getting you and your wonderful wife some ice cream from a special place also..

Yeah it is that law of physics where Energy(Recoil) = Mass (projectile payload) x Velocity squared. It is Newtons law.

Reason the 37 is called the "featherweight" and it adds to the recoil equation.

Strange thing is when I was younger didn't put the recoil thing together and didn't care so much that they are lightweight. As I get older I do appreciate it though.

Ultralight 12 GA. after they moved to Upper Sandusky Ohio. 6 lbs. in SD for phez.

I am a wood whore though. And like American Walnut Crotch.

And my main single barrel target gun is year younger than I am. 1959 37DVR.

I don't like to miss what I am shooting at. And the dog turns around and stares at me when I do. Swear he gets he gets pissed when I do. So do the work the rest of the year so I don't.

And if I do miss then I want to at least have a stick of wood that makes up for it LOL.

Growing up my best friend lived up Miller Holler. Erh guess the sign on the road said Hollow. Wait there were no street signs LOL. But that is what the topo's called it. And so did everyone else.

My wife has a Sears (Savage) 30-30 with the ugly stamped stock also. But I'm leaving it original. You can still find them but they are pretty beat up when you do. This one isn't bad at all.
