Appreciate the feedback...I’m a little skeptical though. With an MT, you can be in any gear you want depending on what you are doing (I.e. cruising down the highway...passing someone on a 2 lane road...etc).

I can definitely see how “lugging it” on a consistent basis would cause issues, but lugging it to me means trying to get a lot of power out of the engine at a less than desirable rpm. The solution in an MT vehicle is to simply downshift, correct? I honestly can’t see this minor gearing change have a serious negative impact for highway cruising at minimal power levels.

Only issue I can really see is starting out in 1st gear where obviously that’s as low as you can go, so if you’re lugging it there, you got a problem for sure. As previously stated though, I feel like 1st gear is TOO LOW from the factory, so this would help. Definitely no lugging it issues right now in 1st gear...nothing even close.

A few people have mentioned the reverse gear being excessively high and this swap would definitely worsen the reverse performance. That seems pretty valid...although I have never had the experience of wishing my reverse was lower. I don’t tow and almost all of my driving is on flat pavement...rarely would I have to parallel park on a hill (but possible). I was thinking worst case I could do the 2wd Low range mod and that would give me all the low range I needed on those rare occasions when i needed some more torque in reverse.

Anyway, I still don’t have any real takers on my proposed trade , so this may never happen, but interesting discussions for sure

I understand where you are coming from as I’ve been driving MT’s for 30 years. However, with that low of gearing, you’ll never make it to 6th year. Highway trips will be hell on your transmission.
