I want to swap the badges on my cement Tacoma from chrome to black.

    What I want done:

-Replace chrome Tacoma door badges with black ones
-Replace V6 badge with the 'TRD' section of the TRD PRO badge.
-Add the black 4X4 badge that the TRD PRO and SR5 Tacomas have.
-Add the TACOMA fill in letters to the tailgate.

I'm too OCD to do it myself. Dealer has quoted me $90-$100.

    Is that a good price?

I already have all the parts ready in a box.

I've asked body shops and they're swamped. I may ask shops that do wraps, see how much they charge.

I'd say 90-100 is fair, they have to make it worth their while.

It could take a couple of hours if they do it right.

With service labor at $60-$85/hr, that sounds like they'll do a half-ass job.

Scrape, glue, write-up 30 minutes as 90, done.

I know it’s not the black out version and completely as you described but I did it myself in about 30 mins total ... I think it turned out pretty good. That being said, if you have someone else do it and it’s not exactly to your liking I assume you would have some recourse and that would be worth it IMO.

Sounds like a fair price...if they don’t do a good job don’t pay them.

For $100 I would just buy the black overlays and stick them on there. Its just a peel and stick affair since they just go over your existing emblems.

I painted my own and it took hours to remove the emblems and adhesive residue, prep, paint, and reaffix them. It cost me about $10 in materials but hundreds of dollars in my own labor haha.

Do you already have the parts or is that price including them for you?

Lol you’re asking an online forum what a fair price is for something that 99% of people do themselves? Jesus Christ. Either pay them to do it for what they charge or do it yourself. No one cares.

There's not many things the dealer does for less than $100.

On the same note, do you think anyone cares about your opinion?

Is it hard going through life not being able to make decisions for yourself? Genuinely curious.

Is it really that hard to believe that someone is looking to get some work done for the lowest price?

For $80-100, seems reasonable considering they will have to remove the emblems, clean the area and measure and place the emblems. Thats how much i would charge if that was my business. Would probably take me 1-2 hours being anal so $40-50hr. Most places charge like$100/hr so that is probably how much time they are quoting.

You asked a question that literally is only answered by yourself. Do YOU think 90-100 dollars is a fair price for that? If your answer is NO, then go somewhere else. If your answer is YES then pay them. This isn’t webMD

If that's how you feel, I'd make lines with blue painter's tape. Once those are good, set the emblem on lightly. If it doesn't look right, lift it off and set it back. Once it's where you like it, just press down and hold. Worst case you can buy some 3M tape and keep redoing it. Honestly, some of the techs don't have that kind of attention to detail. They'll just slam it on any which way.
