I do hate how big vehicles are now. The Tacoma is basically a full size. Bigger vehicles also cause more damage, the good ol F=MA

This truck would look amazing in a gen 1 size dimension. Like. Pretty much the same thing...just smaller.

This keeps being brought up but look at the dimensions - they’re marginally larger than they were years ago. The F-150 has been within an inch of the current width since the 1960’s.

It can all be attributed to:
    1. CAFE fuel economy which is tied to vehicle footprint instead of useful metrics,
    2. Safety features (e.g. higher hoods and more room in front of the radiator for pedestrian safety; larger side zones for offset and T-bone hits)
    3. People turning trucks into family vehicles where the 4 door has become the standard (added some length)
The current Tacoma (a mid-size) is nearly identical to the T100 and first gen Tundra (also mid size). Nobody acts like these are still compact pickups and it’s nearly impossible to build such a vehicle in a chassis-frame configuration due to poor fuel economy that comes with the extra weight of the design and all the safety added in the past 25 years.

I really wish this circle-jerk would end. Compact pickups aren’t coming back until we have a fuel crisis and even then, it means little engines and the Ford Courier (short version: a unibody pickup on the universal Focus platform). Big trucks are a little longer and a little taller to fit modern demands but generally the same otherwise as they have been for years.

I think it’s due to all of the options safety and refinement. The interior of the vehicles have so much aesthetic plastic and crap.

The Ford Courier was a beast. I would use it only on the toughest trails. Its too much truck for most trails.

Actually kind of cool looking. Looks like very capable off road, reminds me of the samurai. What a beast that little suv is.

The average house increased in size also, yet people are happy to pay more in taxes, heat and cooling and all the shitola to fill it.

I would love to have a house that's 800-500 sq feet with a three car garage, but my city would say f-no

I find it impressive what Mazda did with the Miata. I believe it weighs 2lbs more than the 1994 model. When you factor in all the safety equipment needed these days, it’s pretty incredible.

So am I understanding this right??? Manufacturers increase their CAFE score (better) by artificially increasing the denominator?

I need a Mahindra roxor or something similar for a vehicle. Small turbo diesel, manual everything, no touchscreen activated kneading backrest massager in the seat and a factory warranty. All the added shit that car companies make us buy if we want a new vehicle is crazy. I'd have an SR if I could have got it cheaper than my off-road truck.
