woke up in the middle of the night and drove it home. no power steering was a bitch. its too heavy for a tow dolly and i didnt want to pay for a tow. gonna be fun doing all this in an apartment parking lot today. in the rain. seemed to run ok so at this point the temps yesterday didnt kill anything. wish me luck.

 

Damn! Doesn’t sound like fun working in a tight space too.

 

Hope all goes well, did you notice it was hot from the stock gauge cluster or a different gauge? Curious how hot it got if you know.

 

different gauge. but i wasnt paying attention in the storm traffic.

can anybody help me out with this?
think i screwed up assembling the pulleys on the stud thats the upper s/c bracket mount. must have pinched the pulley causing this. it may be in magnusons instructions that i dont have. its a couple washers, pulleys, and spacer i think.

@White lightning boosted make sure you check behind your pulleys for belt remains. I had the equivalent of bird nest wound up behind the pulleys on mine that I originally couldn’t see. Those ribs will split but not disintegrate and destroy bearings if they sit wound up behind the pulleys.

 

gotcha. the serpentine is everywhere.

Correct! Hardest part of the job is contorting your hands and flare wrench beyond the front drive shaft and exhaust to reach the hard line descending from the master cylinder.

 

Does the line come flared?.....I’ve never brought brake line before. Also, what did you use to clamp that hose (1st step)

 

I should have drained the system or clamped it when I did this. Figured I could do the old pull the tablecloth out from under the dishs trick and remove the accumulator and replace with the union without losing much or any fluid. Brake fluid all over arms and in my eye was the fun that ensued lol. Was still totally worth it.

 

learned a valuable lesson today everyone hopefully can learn from. the stud holding the upper s/c bracket in place has a VERY critical order of washers. i unfortunately had the stud back out and THOUGHT i had the washers on correct. behind and in front of the main sepentine idler are two thin washers. they may look the same size but theyre not. the small one goes on the back, larger on front. if you do it the other way very, very bad things WILL happen. heres a pic. yes, they are offset. if i lay one on top of the other you cant really see a difference. im back up and running now.
