    Howdy fellow Tacoma bros,
    Awhile ago I sold my
    2013 reg cab 5speed MT for a 2015 SR5V6 4x4 access cab Auto.
This is the first auto trans vehicle I’ve owned. I came from driving a
83 Datsun 720 4x4,85 Celica GTS & 91 Nissan hardbody. Long story short I’ve been yearning to shift gears once again. I’ve come across a 2015 TRDOR 4x4 DCSB 6MT and I’m very tempted to trade...it has 2,000 less miles than i do and the rear locker has me sold already! Let me know what’s good. Help a fellow brotha out.

Is the 6MT worth it over the Auto?
Pros and cons vs the two from yalls perspective.

I have an '06 DCSB with the 6 speed manual and a '15 DCSB with the auto... I bought the '06 new in December of '06 and have put around 270,000 miles on it. The '15 I bought in April of '18... it had about 19,000 miles on it.

I am really enjoying the '15, but when I drive the '06, it's kinda like 'coming home'... I really prefer the manual...

I got rid of a 1998 reg cab 2.4 4cyl. 4X4 5spd & got a 2013 reg cab 2.7 4cyl. 4X4 auto. I don't know if the eng. have changed, or the auto trans. is the difference, but the "98" seemed like it had plenty of power, while the 2013 seems very weak. This taco starts shifting down at the first sign of a hill that the old "98" model just cruised over with no problem, & this auto usually shifts down twice on most hills. I'd gladly trade for an equal 2013 w/ 6MT, if it would get my feel of power back, but if the 6MT feels as weak as the auto, I'd keep the auto. I was ready to quit shifting, thus this 2013 auto. Seems as if you weren't ready to quit shifting. Decisions, Decisions ??? I can't vote because I don't know how much "YOU" are wanting to go back to shifting.

Real men are confident enough to let their truck do the shifting.

I have a 2015 DCSB auto. Had almost only manual transmissions before it. I miss the manual...

Why not buy a second vehicle with a manual transmission that is fun to drive?

Once you get past the crap clutch feel and terrible gear ratios, the 6MT is pretty good.

Clutch feel easy fix, gear ratios... not so much.

If you want to play left foot and right hand in traffic, go for it...in the middle of bum fuck no where backing up hill, in the rain, goose shit on a sidewalk slick with a load..good luck. AT's and low lock get it done.

I’ve always loved stick shift...in cars. Makes driving way more fun, gives you the obvious option of downshifting for power, yada yada. Now this may sound weird but I have no desire for manual in a truck. I have enough trouble keeping myself from doing dumb shit just pulling a boat and trailer out of a slick ramp in 4WD. I don’t need to be dealing with a clutch, too.

So there you go, my 2 cents, which are really zero cents because any opinion not yours is worthless. Whatever you settle on go enjoy the hell out of it.

Not worth it, same truck with different problems just for the ability to change gears. Either buy a cheap fun car, or motorcycle with a manual.
