Just so you know... There are no vents in the rear of the Double Cab (Quad Cab as you called it). There are floor vents that blow under the seats but no vents which blow directly into the back seat area. That said, the front seat area cools down nicely.

The AC works great but also seems to take a minute or two longer to get cold than my previous vehicles. I read somewhere else in the forum that the delay in cooling was a side effect of the smaller and more efficient AC system that uses less refrigerant. If that is an issue to you then I'd recommend adding remote start so you can start the car (w/AC on) and have it cooled down quicker. Enjoy!

Hah I agree, and MN in late January when we have a week straight at -10 F! Though I haven't had any problems with heat or a/c, so I think they did good on the Tacoma, at least with the dual zone climate control that mine has. I'd assume the regular system is good as well.

I always say they should force the designers and engineers to work on the cars when they are making them. At least do regular maintenance stuff on them like oil change and tune up. If they think having to nearly pull the engine out to change some spark plugs is a going to cut it... back to the drawing board! I can't believe some of they stuff that gets greenlit like that. Maybe the manufacturer figures it is good for getting those maintenance $$$ in after-sales service...

It’s hot where I live. I don’t use mine much, unless I have a passenger with me. I usually drive with the windows down. I used to think it was fine until I rode in my wife’s 18 Camry. That AC is ridiculous cold.

Edit. The AC is about my only complaint I have with the truck. It’s tolerable but that is about it.

Windows tinted like all cars in Fla seem to be. Had them check the AC during an oil change and got the "it is normal" response. Pretty much the same response about the transmission so not really shocked.

It’s seems settled that ac works well when moving. The 3rd gen has a factory known problem of not cooling well when stationary or slow speeds. This condition may not be common for most people but if you live in a hot climate like me and have to idle the truck for lunch break or waiting outside for an errand to be done be aware that ac will barely be able to keep up on max blast. Once you start moving again it’s ice cold.

So for OP’s concerns of cooling a baby. I’d advise get tsb done when new if in Hot climate or get a different truck. No good to have baby idling outside in hot truck.
