Picked up a set of lightly used toyota oem roof bars. Had the dealer install them while i was there for something else. I realize these are not super high quality and good for up to 100lbs but ...wtf? Who else has these? are they that loose? Theres no way i would feel confident strapping 2 kayaks on there. The bars feel loose on the locked and pivoting ends. So much play.
    Input?

    Not atm.
When they are closed....one end has the locking clip and the orher has the bolt thst allows it to pivot. Both ends feel like they have a lot of play.

Why don’t you ask the dealer? They installed it so have them ease your mind. I have mine locked across the roof at all times and I can hear them at highway speeds sometimes. Maybe you should’ve inspected them before buying them and researching?

I have hauled two kayaks up there with my own roof rack. No issues up to 60mph. Don’t think I would feel to confident at higher speeds. Had a friend who had his whole rack ripped off with the kayak in a bad windstorm going down the interstate. This wasn’t a Tacoma but a Sienna. He had the Thule crossbars and all and it still flew right off! They are not the most stellar racks. You can spend three times the price and get some of the fancy stuff and enjoy the wind noise!
