Personally this how I lot 30lbs....

DISCLAIMER: do not follow the work out verbatim if you are over weight or have injuries...

That said, cut all dairy. Adults should NOT be drinking milk and using whey....babies need it not adults. Sugar...cut out sodas, heavy sugary foods...limit those....fast food is loaded with sugar....once in awhile.

Use a non plant or milk protein during the day to hold any cravings down...egg white protein with no sweetener. Mix it with fruit juice or Gatorade for those hot days is what I found.

And the last thing. I found P90x.
Could only do about 20-30 min initially. After the first 3 months I was doing 2 workouts a day a minimum and running 2+ miles.

Went from 220lbs of groaning when I sat down and not being able to bend over to put my socks on to 180 lbs then back to 195 of muscle......the issue is to stick with a program.
I stopped for over a year.... got a gut back, pain, lethargy.....now I’m back to working out.....sore as hell these days.

    And I found Paleo

I went from 276 at 24% BF to 292 at 18.6% on a recomp diet. Granted that was with 2 hours a day of strongman/powerlifting training. But I eat about 4400 cals on lift days still and continue to lose some fat.

I found I retain a lot of water. Need to lower my salt intake. I lose 3-5 lbs everytime I mow just from sweating.

In the spring of 2018 I went from 245 to 190 but also added a ton of muscle, so in reality it was well over 50 lbs. of body fat lost. Currently at 195 and about to restart the strength training routine, and pretty excited about it.

I cut out dairy, sugar, breads and pastas, and any processed foods. I limited myself to whole veggies, lean protein and tons of water. Strength training and body weight exercises took care of the fat burn, and I never even had to join a gym - did all the body weight exercises in my house.

It's a simple equation as long as you're dedicated to it.

Were you in a calorie deficit that whole time to lose weight?

Nope, just fueled my body with good stuff. Total timeline was about six months, so it's not like I lost it all in just a few weeks.

Shop the perimeter of the grocery store...that's all real food. Most everything in the middle is simply a product.

Your body will thank you in many ways.

Well it's nearly impossible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same, especially that much... Unless you were taking some kind of steroid or had a killer recomp diet. Even then 50lbs loss in 6 months on a recomp would be crazy.

If anything you just lost fat. You have to be in a calorie surplus to gain muscle and a deficit to lose fat. More likely you lost fat from eating clean and eating less calories and that leaning out made your muscles more visible.

    Either way, nice work!

Nah, no steroids or anything like that. I just went with natural foods and 100% discipline (even on the weekends).

Good point about the muscles being more visible; I hadn't thought about that but I think you're right.
