I am about to install the ecgs bushing to replace the needle bearing on my 2016, and would like to change out the fluid in both diffs. I like the idea of running a heavier oil like 85w140 lucas like ecgs recommends, but I'm worried that it will be too think for cold weather, possibly as low as 0-10 degrees. Anyone use this oil in cold weather? Reduced gas milage/acceleration?

If you aren't running the truck hard, I don't know why ECGS recommends a higher that OE viscosity.

Well I am pretty hard on the truck, do a good bit of wheeling, and wouldn't mind a small mpg loss for alittle extra protection for my diffs, seems like mpg played a big part in why toyota calls for 75w90

Had a '96 Miata with a Torsen rear end that used 75/90. Many of us pounded those hard in autox, HPDE and drag racing.

Making the change to an OTC synthetic and changing every 30k was pretty common. No failures.

Since viscosity changes with heat, the change from 75-85 is the biggest (and minimal) change. You'll never get hot enough in street driving that the 140 is needed. So I'd not expect any MPG hit there.

I use 85/140 gear oil in everything it does not really get cold here in Eastern Pa .

A few days below zero not weeks on end.

I do notice a little if it sits out in the wind all day when it is zero

As far as Gas Mileage if it is not below 10 mpg I doubt I notice.

Since I always run around getting ready to leave the truck warms up.

I have no clue about the acceleration I most times have 800 to 1000 pounds in the bed so drive according
