In todays paper, I won't comment on it or post the writers name.: " The average response time of Law Enforcement is five to ten minutes. The response time of a 9mm gun is 1,180 feet per second. The San Diego County Sherriff feels his life and Family are more important then mine. I ask, not being a first responder, why dose he carry a gun? Time to get real and take care of the people who put him in the position to be able to defend himself and his family. If confronted with an active shooter, we are told to run, hide or fight. A better response, instead of waiting for the bad guy to kill multiple people, would be to barricade, take aim and shoot the bad guy. That way a good guy with a gun can stop the vaunted bad guy."

I want to buy a gun for home defense (target shooting/fun), but I really did not want to carry one on my person or in my truck. However, with all of the shootings these days it seems like it would be in my best interest. I really don’t want to take a life, but if there was an active shooter situation, I’d rather kill than be killed. Unfortunately, Philadelphia, one of the few places I’d want to carry a weapon, has turned into one giant gun-free zone.

 

Also, based on reading this, it sounds like most police departments are incompetent...

Police don't carry guns to protect you and me, they carry to protect themselves, as we all should.
