Maybe you guys can give me some of your input , those of you who have chased an engine whine like I am doing right now :annoyed:
    01 Tacoma 4wd 3.4l v6

    Things I have done ,
-replaced steering rack ( was leaking )
-replaced power steering pump with a new unit , reused my resevoire but cleaned the screen before reinstalling .
    - emptied old fluid and put new into the system .
    -New power steering belt
Clearly I thought the noise was coming from the power steering pump but needed to replace that stuff anyways . Trying to attach a video of myself hitting the gas pedal hopefully you can hear it . Kind of two noises , one rises with the rpm and the other is kind a scraping bearing noise .

Look forward to your thoughts :gossip:

Is there any chance the high pressure line was replaced with an aftermarket at some point in the past?

Okay so some of the whining was the power steering which corrected itself after a long drive since I just put the stuff in and the annoying loud noise was that idler pulley. Went around with a long screw driver listening. Swapped it out and all good , appreciate the replies

that's good to hear, I have the same whine and have a new pump and pulley in the top of my toolbox. Just haven't had time this week to start the project as I want to combine it with some other work at the same time.
