Venting

I wouldn't think rotors would be cover under warranty as it's a wear and tear item subject to use or abuse like tires.
45k here on original pads and rotors and I would diy replace them for so much less.

 

Covered for 1yr/12k

 

40k no issues.

Yeah, maybe out of warranty, but I could replace rotors (aftermarket, but quality) and pads (OEM) for $150 including supplies. $700 is outrageous.

I have old man emu suspension and 17" methods on 275/70/17 ko2's
I have no idea how this happened so fast but google search shows its more common than one would think.
NO i do not drive with 2 feet or whatever the fak.
I have 29,000 kms.
Warranty on rotors is 1 year or 20,000
They said they would knock off $70 lol parts and labor.
I think I might just purchase another set of oem ones, my pads are still 70% so sand and throw them back on. If they warp again...upgrade time.

 

So the dealer said they were bad? Do you have any pics or measurements showing they are bad?

 

I have been chasing this ..after redoing an alignment and balance...i paid the dealer to do a brake inspection...they gave it back and said everythng was fine
I brougjt it back like 3 weeks later and said no i promise u a rotor is warped. They gave it back and said yes it is ...its not covered..

 

They warp from heat. Could be the heavier tires contributing some but most likely your driving style is getting them hotter.

 

Why not just do the rotors yourself then? Thats an insane amount of money for that job...especially seeing as there are only 2 rotors.....

 

Rotors very rarely actually warp...Most of the time what you're actually feeling is uneven transfer of pad material onto the rotor. This can occur from improper break-in/bed in of your pads when your truck was new (did you follow the break-in guidelines?) or from getting the pads and rotors pretty hot and then staying stopped with your foot held on the brake pedal (if you have to slam on brakes for a yellow light, roll forward a few inches after stopping. This will help alleviate the issue).

 

Well ... Honestly i am pretty hands on with tools...i use them all day...no i have never done a brake job...i live in a condo where mechanical repairs are not permitted .

 

Warps can be caused by countless non wear-related reasons.

Never had this happen in all the vehicles i have owned so its not driving habits...its shit parts lol

 

checked my pads and rotors yesterday at 66k miles on OEM Toyota pads and original rotors, pads had at least 10mm thickness, measured the rotors with a digital caliper were 27.88mm both sides, they come in new at 28mm. don't know where this dude has been but I say

 

I've found this to be very common with people that install larger (heavier) tires and wheels. And don't up-grade the braking system to match.

Pull the tire, undo the hardware clip, slide pins out, move pistons back, remove pad, insert new ones... real simple on a 16+

 

1 aggressive stop with brakes that are already hot in a cold environment is all it takes.
