I’m interested in knowing what LED headlights you are running in your Taco.

I've been using the Xenon Depot H11 Xtreme LED Pro's for over a year without any problems. I like the fact that they come with adjustable beam indexing.

That is an interesting read thanks for sharing. Do you have any suggestion to enhance the dull yellow and poor functioning factory headlights? I suppose the most viable solution would be to replace the entire assembly to a designated LED system, which is of course much more expensive than just replacing the bulb.

Have you experienced any of the issues that mchalk13’s link above describes? It’s a pretty informative link on comparing light sources and function. I still want to do LED’s but I can see I’m going to need to be cautious which one I go with.

I'd pick up a pair of the +130 GE halogen bulbs on that other thread to start. They are immensely brighter than the stock lights... if that still isn't bright enough, you can try LED. I installed some XenonDepot LEDs and hated them. Very bright in a "trapezoid" of light, but the falloff was blinding. Could see right in front of me, but no ambient light around the beam pattern which I found to be dangerous. a bit of scatter is ideal in low beams. I sold the LEDs and replaced with brighter halogens and have been completely happy with them and they've lasted for about a year, though I'll probably preemptively replace them before winter since the high output halogens forgo longevity in favor of brighter performance.

I'll start with a caveat, and won't claim the OE lights are great.

But they are not as horrid as some paint them to be.

I'd suggest if you are on a stone dark, vehicle-less road and overdriving the high beams, you're just driving too fast.

In that condition, as well as very rural (no traffic, animal risk) and off-road conditions, auxiliary lighting that you can control and aim as needed is a more effective solution.

And everyone knows that in foul weather low beams are augmented by good fog and/or low mounted driving lights. High beams, lousy patterned low beams or improperly placed auxiliary lights are going to reflect back from the elements and blind the driver, not penetrate for visibility.

In the 90's all the cool kids had to have HIDs and the 'blue' look. Now it's LEDs and look cool. When the OEs get off their bums and design fixtures that support the LED lamps (instead of just being streamlined to the body), then they'll be worth having.

Go with HID's. A good set of LED's will cost about as much as good HID's

I found gt lighting to be really good lights also the supernova v4. Both can be found at headlight revolution website along with the testing for them.
Ya the time when I bought them gt were $200 and the v4 were $149. Now the gt are $149 and the v4 are $169.

I must tell you this...the LED's, in my opinion, are much better than the stock halogens my truck came with. Granted they do not project any farther out front than halogen but at my age (67) I see the road and obstacles much better with LED. As I live in Florida, I'm not concerned with freezing headlights.

After talking with the member that fielded that report, I'm going to buy the H9 bulbs and try them in my low beams first . Let's face it, I've spent 30 bucks on dumber stuff (damn strippers named Karma.) If I think I need more light after that (don't REALLY need more light now BTW) I'll upgrade to a HID kit, don't know which one yet, that will be sorted out with a few months worth of research. The only real way to get rid of that yellow glow is either LEDS which I will not do, or a HID kit.
