Yes that is probably correct. I still think billies are a great option still no matter what some of the keyboard jockeys say or think. Just all depends on the application. There just isn't a one size fits all correct answer. Sounds like you've done some solid research and know what you are looking for.

 

Bed bars with an 8” rise. Turned out nicely. Good, snug fit to the bed rails thanks to my bed rail jig. Not for me, by the way. My truck is heavy enough as is.

Finally got around to fixing my swingout latch setup. Much happier now. Built it so that it self centers and locks down with a bit of preload to avoid any shifting. No more knocking sounds when I hit a bump.

 

Gears ordered from East Coast Gear Supply! Looking forward to getting my 4.56 gears swapped in. Will be a definite improvement over what I'm currently driving around with.

 

gears was one of the best things I've done, hands down. it'll feel like a new truck to you.

 

My truck has been a slug for far too long now. When I first got it, I was super happy with power delivery with it being a manual. Slowly adding all the weight and larger tires, you don't really notice how bad it gets until its barely drivable.

 

Bilstein 7100s with heavy compression/rebound damping installed today. Ride is so much more manageable now with minimal body roll (for a truck). Truck feels all around tighter now and much more responsive to steering inputs. Dimensions are the same (within a 1/4 inch) of the last set of shocks that were mounted so I had no issues getting to work with my custom setup with the 63s.

 

Traded my Prinsu Rack today for a Softopper. I think it was a solid trade, I’ll be getting more use out of this than I did the rack.

 

Needed a work around for my air tank to be able to mount to the original location on the bed rail with my softopper installed. So I bent up a bracket from some 2”x3/16” flat stock.

Today was a rough day for UPS. Got my gears from ECGS and got my spindle gusset kit and Superbumps from Wheelers. Oh and I’m finally trying out my dimple dies on some sheet metal. Unfortunately I got to wait a whole week to put my gears in since I’ve got work this weekend, but at least I’ve got a lot to look forward to.

 

Dude! I promise I haven’t forgot about you. PM and we can get you figured out. I was actually wanting to try this project out first before I quoted you anything. Full disclosure, never used them before this project. Lol.

 

Like I said, PM when you’re ready and I’ll help you out. Can’t have unsafe truck stuff with kids involved.

 

Ready to see some dimple dies on some sliders/ hope you see the difference with those superbumps as I did, but I’ve got a rear set still in box

 

I hope so. Those stock bump stops are the worst. My rear is taken care of with some generic Daystar bumpstops I made mounts for. I’ll be surprised is they last a year. The rubber is extremely soft.

 

Finished the jerry can/whatever holder basket thing for my swingout. First time working with 16 gauge sheet. My welder is not a fan of thinner sheet metal. Makes me want a TIG welder.... anyways, I’m happy with the dimple placement and overall strength. It hardly weighs anything too which is nice.

 

What do y’all think? I feel like it’s a bit much... probably only use it when I actually have the need for additional water or fuel. Looks too weird to have attached for daily driving.

 

Like the concept just looks kinda like the plastic "designer" egg crates that you can get at a department store. I like the crate as you can haul more than just the cans if the need arises.
