Seeing as how 555 is an OEM manufacturer... I'm betting there is little to no difference except maybe with the exterior finish.

see what I mean lol, the OEM inners are way overpriced IMO.

555s are Japanese made so I trust them for this application.

Thank you...should I change my upper ball joints too even thought they are still good (212k). I replaced the outer tie rods and lower ball joints last year via OEM

Probably not a bad idea with that many miles...especially if the boots are torn or leaking grease

Thank you, go OEM on those or 555?

Also, anyone else sell the 555 inner tie rods?

I think OEM uppers are pretty cheap so I'd just stick with those.

Not sure where else 555 inners are sold but if you google the part # I'm sure they'll pop up

Just ordered 555's for the inner tie rods. Also, ordered the OEM upper ball joints for $93 (set of 2) shipped

Anyone with a Masters degree in metallurgy?, and have both styles to ruin just for shits & giggles? I believe that is the only way to know, but Toyota has done a fine job of selling us all stuff we could get the same quality for cheaper. I just priced two doughnut style exhaust gaskets, Toyota wants 40.00 for two they are made by felpro and cost 2-10.00 from many other suppliers. That was 40.00 was with shop discount at Toyota! 40 freaking bucks. The ones that were 2.00 were truly the same and sold out, I wound up with two for 20.00 through Amazon as I need them for upcoming smog. Every time I check Toyota first I find their parts cheaper after I go looking on the net. Toyota=Crooks.

Just make sure you rent (or buy) the proper balljoint press tool to install them. Back when I did mine I tried this method outlined by bajataco using a 3 arm puller and a flat prybar. It *eventually* worked, but only after hours of swearing. A whole lotta searing...

When I did my uppers again 6 years later, I did the balljoint delete mod (total chaos uniballs). Using the press they came out super easy, and the plug adaptors for the uniballs went in like butter.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Of course the gaskets are FelPro (except for the high end silicone line) and National seals. Here's an article about Federal Mogul's parent company Tenneco and Toyota from 2005.

I don't know why Low Range describes 555 as a Co. now. They called them Sankei 555's when I ordered and said THAT was OE supplier.

I was very disappointed in a set of 555 ball joints from LowRange. There were a few differences from left to right also that I believe lead to them sourcing from other makers of the STYLE of 555.
