A little of this and a little of that.
Hey Mike, @Cold Iron Did you grow up in the Chemung, NY area? My Dad is from Waverly. I’ve been to the Chemung race track a few times. I wonder if it is still owned by the Bodine family?

Evening all. Finally home. I stopped in RI and visited my daughter. Took her and her roommate out for dinner. Got home and the wife is having a pizza party with her coworkers from the elementary school.

Whoa! They need their mouths washed with soap! A lot of naughty talk going on out on the screened in porch...

:annoyed:I am on call this week, until Monday. It took me 5 hours to finish my last post on here. They expected me to work with no delay today. And until Monday :annoyed:

Damn it if I wasn't on call I swear I'd drop everything to run over there to meet you. Even if I couldn't get a Triple Chocolate Pecan pie. But would be disapointed if I couldn't. And by 3 they will be sold out always are.

Yeah your side of the river they can run dogs on bear and do. Some counties loose dogs up into the triple digits for some counties to wolves. That is crazy.

Oh not disagreeing with a dozen wolves on ISRO. At all. We are conservatively estimated to have 3,500 wolves but most of us that spend time in the woods will say it is higher than that. Much higher. Very familiar with ISRO. That map I posted before of my playground?

    In relationship to ISRO...

    isle royal.jpg
Climate change is responsible for the decrease in Moose on the Arrowhead but the Moose in ISRO are destroying the vegetation... just had to throw that out there as it is not even logical yet many scientist do. And I am science based and always have been. Well at least since 7th grade when my Grandfather had me balancing empirical equations.

There is a documentary I have seen and is floating around about how introducing wolves to Yellowstone helped control the elk population and beavers returned. And so did vegetation due to the increased water the dams provided. Heck here the wolves even eat beavers LOL.

There is so much that we don't know yet. And a lot of variables that contribute to those factors that are not taken into account.

Gary Alt was one of the top 10 wildlife biologist of all time IMO. He brought back the bobcat, bear and other animals to Pa. Then when he pushed for antler restriction you started to signs in vehicles parked on State Game Lands saying Fire Alt Now!

He resigned. Culling deer herds was not something he was able to put into public domain or private land. But after he resigned the Bluffs Whitetail Association which consisted of land owners where Mn. Wi. and Iowa intersect hired him as a consultant. Some of the largest body mass and largest rack deer in the world are harvested here. Mn. now has an antler restriction thanks to him. You want to see large bodied deer with huge racks the Pope and Young museum and HQ is 30 miles from my house. For good reason, most of the deer in it are local.

My first ship TAD for 6 months waiting for Nuclear Power School I was the Da Vinci hammer for the bilge pump. At least the first deployment to Acapulco, Mexico. For 4 hours twice a day every 30 seconds had to smack up on the tappet arm on the steam driven reciprocating pump with a 10 lb. sledge hammer. Was buff by the time got back to San Diego LOL. And said screw that shit, tore it apart when we went Cold Iron and replaced all the bushings, packing glands, and shafts that were beat to hell. After that I had respect and they left me alone for the most part until I went to Nuclear Power School.

On the other hand there are millions more whitetail deer now than exist before Columbus "discovered" America.

Well that didn't take long, was mid 80's or so when Bama started a deer a day limit wasn't it? I used to joke it was because they were so small you could put them in your game pouch and walk out of the woods instead of drag them :p

In the 70's the Twin Tiers of NY and Pa. had more deer than any other area of the Country. Grew up was raised there, I am a ridge running Appalachian woodchuck. NY was Tioga, Chemung, and Steuben Counties. Pa. side was Bradford, Tioga, and Potter. @bucktails knows of what I speak.

Hey Scott! Yes I did, well and Wellsboro split between the 2 growing up but ended up graduating from Waverly. My Grandfather owned the Texaco gas station in Chemung. Aunt was postmistress in Chemung. Geoff used my grandfathers garage when he was racing Indy Circuit before he went NASCAR. My uncle was one of his mechanics and used to go to the Elmira Airport to get Avgas for his Indy car.

No they sold the track at least pretty sure of it.

Shot this deer behind the race track when I was back home on recruiting duty in the 80's. With Scott Bodine, Earls son. It is on the saddle behind Katy-Did curve where they hang glide from.

Been a while since I have back though. And when I do I go to both Wellsboro and the Valley to see family.
