I'm looking for both pros and cons to wearing one. I suspect it may be very uncomfortable but if anybody has a positive experience please tell.

I normally carry a folding knife but I'd like to try out a fixed blade.

While we are on the topic, how about a horizontal carry knife?

I wore one for a couple days, punch dagger style. Then realized it was pretty pointless for me so I stopped. It was comfortable though, didn't even know it was there.

I might wear one some in the winter, when I'm wearing boots, but since I got my assisted opening SOG knife, I rarely carry the boot knife any more.
But the one I have is a doozie! (Bottom one in the picture that has a sheath) These are all Gerber knives I own, the three sheath knives are no longer made.Gerber knives 002 (2).jpg

Was it comfortable or did it give you any problems? Did you feel that it pros of wearing it outweighed the cons?

It didn't really offer any advantages over a belt knife except for concealment. It was comfortable because it was worn on the outside of the boot, instead of down the inside. The sheath has a clip, so you can wear it as a belt knife, but it also has a small buckle-like thing on the end of the sheath, you can loop something like paracord through it, loop it under the boot and tie it on the other side. Sometimes it got snagged in underbrush when out in the woods. I sort of preferred wearing the middle sheath knife with the sheath strapped to my pack strap just below the shoulder, upside down. The sheath has a locking pin that fits the thumb guard of the knife to keep it in place.
