99 3.4 4x4 5 spd with 213,000. Check engine light came on today- what do I need to check codes to see what it is? Haven’t replaced any o2 sensors so hopefully something like that.

    Also- what is leaking.

I first thought possibly the drain plug not tightened well after a transfer case fluid change buuutttt... leak came back and a drop will form on the skid. But look at these shots- transmission fluid level is still just at the top dripping a bit when I take the fill plug out but I did add some fluid to the transfer case.

A scan tool will read codes, most auto parts stores will do it for free (hoping you buy the parts) but I prefer using my own which will show me much more than just the code number. That looks like gear oil seepage. Did you replace the crush washers at time of fluid check/change? Rexka Transfer and Diff 0-18008 (pack of 12) X001RCHL7L

Could be the wiper at the main seal. If it was the seal 75/90 would be slung all around. Keep an eye on it or opt to drop the yolk and get a better look behind the cover.

20 yrs. of seepage. Nothing to worry about. Might make it worse trying to fix.

    808 ALLDAY!!
first step, soak with degreaser, hose off multiple time and get all that spooge from 20yrs off and clean. then drive it a bit and see where it start seeping from first.....my buddy had a oil drip issue and after cleaning everything from valve covers down to oil pan, found out valve cover bolts were almost finger loose and it was just years of seepage.....we tighten them up and hasn't dripped yet....just a thought. Clean it up first then diagnose.

Yes, I was really just going off the first pic.

If something is dripping it's the covers or moons. Sticky above.

I would wipe my finger on it, rub it between 2 fingers, sniff it, then touch the tip of my tongue with it. Each fluid has its own distinct feel/taste/smell. Could be one, could be a combination.
