I can find 3 Interstate Battery options for a 2016 but none for a 2017? I am guessing the 16 and 17 would would take the same model number. Interstate has no listing for 2017 Tacoma's or Tundra's. Maybe they haven't updated their online listing?

Install the largest cold cranking amp battery you can fit...it won’t hurt the truck any.

OK I got the Interstate T27F Fitment #36 42. Costco for $93.99. It is a little longer, maybe an inch, but fits in there with no mods. I had to work a little in the hot sun to get the blind black side hook to catch the slot. Gotterdone!

27F is for a 2nd Gen Tacoma with Tow Package, 24F is correct size for the 3rd Gen. If you want the 27F you purchased to fit inside the battery tray you can snag one for a 2nd Gen.

I hear Ya, out here in the Sonoran a battery last 3 years, however, so budget is a factor.

Cool, Great info. I will check it out. Lucky that one side of the tray doesn't have a lip on my 17 so it worked out for me.

I owe you a beer or 12! My old eyes in the desert sun and all. Yep I need a new tray or a modification. I need to cheat the battery over towards the drivers side about an inch. Could be worse ... flatten out the lip on the driver side and ...something or other.

The 2nd Gen with tow package will be the tray that you are in need of.

There are some things about trucks of yesteryear that I miss and one of them is they didnt put the engine bay together like a jig saw puzzle, years ago any battery would have fit. The battery in my "71" 1210 International has 2 inches of extra tray space all the way around the battery, my Taco has 0 space around it.

Does anyone know the part number for the "2nd Gen with tow package" battery tray?

    Thank you,

That is so wrong of a blanket statement! If the OP lives in a hot area, then that is a sure way to not only waste $$, but more so, ensure the early death of the battery. CCA's are the measure of how much power is available at 0 Degrees F. CA's are the measure at 32 degrees F. If the OP lives in a cold climate, only then are CCA's important.
