‘Dad Shred build thread’ double locked & 5:29’s SOLD, now 2014 tundra cm TRD OR

Packed up the truck for a half weekend of camping and riding bikes in Sedona for my buddy’s Bachelor party. I find joy in simplicity. My camp setup is humble and effective. Coleman ground tent, Coleman old school stove, a good cooler, some good beer & that’s about it. I love it. Look at how minimal my truck is, all packed up.

 

The real question is what’s in the cooler/considered good beer?

 

I am a beer snob so that’s a loaded question. Here is one of my recent favorites. Pistachio shake IPA from Arizona Wilderness Brewery.

Simple is so awesome. I'm the same way: Roof tent with bedding prepacked inside, cooler/fridge, some cooking implements. End of list.

Takes like 5 mins to pack! It actually annoys me now when my friends come with me and yard a mountain of stuff outta their car and into mine for a 2 day trip.

Camp/bikes was great in Sedona! For My buddy’s bachelor party. Lots of booze and a very long and hot Saturday in the Sedona Red Rocks shredding singletrack.

 

Scored this tonight. On my Local TW FB group I saw a guy comment about his RGF CM relocation kit, so I PM’d him and all he wanted was a case of beer for it!!! SCORE.

Ever since I smashed my muffler, my low hanging exhaust pipe under the transfer case rattles at various RPM’s against my skid plate. Today I got an exhaust reroute AND a magnaflow 18” muffler welded in by Scottsdale Muffler for $250 OTD. Couldn’t be happier. The magnaflow sounds great and if anything might be slightly quieter than I was hoping. Which is probably a good thing. No drone and the truck finally has some character now.

 

I’m just wondering how I can get creative and wrap these exposed transfer case actuator wires or even the actuator itself to keep it from any heat from that pipe. I suppose I could just heat wrap the pipe. Lol

 

I am also concerned about the possibility of excess heat build up when I get my re-route done. I have a mobtown IFS, Mid, and transfer cross member bolted in but have yet to get the re-route done yet. Have you heard of anyone frying their actuator from heat as a result of the re-route?

 

build a metal heat shield so there is an air gap to the transfer case and then get some of one of the gold heat reflective films to attach to it. You can wrap the exhaust but it will rust if it's not stainless.

I have literally never heard of that happening though I know it probably could happen, especially where I live (AZ) with the heat. I think heat wrapping the actual exhaust pipe might be a great idea. I saw tacomaholic do that in his video and he tested the temps and they were SIGNIFICANTLY lower at the wrapped pipes

 

I love that idea. It would be very easy to bend a piece of metal, drill holes in it & cover it with the gold stuff and bolt those holes to the tx case because it has so many bolts on it.

 

More airflow on the sealed transfer case.. you could also wrap it since it's cheap also.
I didn't relocate mine and was told just to smash it and not worry about it.. it still flows.
But that's a great deal you got on the new setup, i would consider that in the future and build a heat shield

 

I got the reroute because my low hanging pipe was rattling against my skid lol. I already had a beefy skid covering it but the rattling was annoying. It was so cheap at this shop too. Happy with the finished product for sure.

are you saying to just wrap the whole actuator in the tape? I’m not against that idea

 

Rattle.. AHAHAHAHAHAHHAH say no more.
I have an alum skid that only protects either side and doesn't cover the pipe.

 

You can see the burn mark where my exhaust was rattling and burning the skid.

 

DO NOT WRAP THE ACTUATOR, I was referring to the pipe. The insulation keeps the heat in to enhance the flow of gas faster out of the exhaust based on heat differential. So typically you want to wrap or ceramic coat the pipe the whole way. That's why I recommended a heat shield
