Stupidest thing I've heard; having to weigh a Tacoma. DMV clerk must have thought it was a 1 ton truck.

I went to Yuma AZ from San Diego and it was easy as could be. They actually submitted all the paperwork to CA for me from Yuma. They sell a lot of cars to SoCal folks.

Did the same for my OR. Was super easy and saved me ~$3,000 for about 7 hrs of my time.

Dmv also checked the sticker under the hood for emissions, but I forgot to ask why they couldn’t just check door sticker for wieght.

Trd pro owner here in Cali. I bought mine in Oregon. It was a breeze to register. Get a smoke check. Cheapest thing ever because it’s a new car and takes 5 minutes. Make an app at your local dmv. Calculate the taxes using the calculator in their website. Once at the dmv pay the taxes or show proof that you paid taxes at whatever state you bought it at and pay the difference. You can pay with debit, check or cash. Get the car inspected and done.

    Andres,
Im pretty sure I'm going to do the same thing. fly up to Oregon to buy a trd sport m/t , then drive it back home to Los Angeles.
So did you just go straight to a smog check before the DMV or did you have to go to dmv first then smog check then back? Also naked farmer said he had to weigh his, did you have to as well?

I'm curious did you guys go out of state because Toyota doesn't seem to sell manual transmission trucks here in CA? That's my main reason.

You will be required to pay California sales tax when you register your truck. If you pay sales tax out of state, you will need to pay the difference for California sales tax.
