i bought a 2000 4 cylinder 2wd tacoma. I bought it to use for work (construction) . I love the gas mileage it gives me but at work i sometime have to drive thru rough terrain, nothing crazy, what will you guys recommend to get thru that terrain, i was thinking 4.5 inch lift and some
Bigger tires. I know i will lose some mpg but thats still fine, my previous teuck was an f350 V10 so i wont complain about it loosing gas mileage. Thanks

The problem won’t be mpg. The problem will be power. Or lack there of. A 4 1/2” lift will have to be a drop bracket lift. Or some ungodly spacer cool combo. Either way you’ll end up putting 35’s on it to make it look proportionate. Then you’ll be required to regear. And I may be wrong but I still believe that motor will struggle to power that heavy of a tire.

Also, most of us here weren’t born yesterday, we know that a 4.5” lift isn’t necessary for the rough terrain on job sites. You’re trying to justify work as an excuse to mod your truck. Which is whatever it’s your prerogative. But the best way to lift Tacomas is 2” with coils and Add a leaf systems and put it on 31’s and regear.

    But to each their own.

I suggest you use the search function as this has been gone over probably a thousand times (and that’s not a bad guess)

Not really trying to justify nothing bro, if you tell me leaving the tires as they are and just level it will get me through the job site ill do that. Thanks! Ill consider that 2 inch lift

Do you have a 6-lug or 5-lug. It’s considerably more of a pain in the ass to lift the 5-lugs because there isn’t as much aftermarket support for them as the 6-lug 4x4’s and PreRunners.

I'd just go with a little beefier wheel and tire setup. 27x8.50r14 on 14x6 wheels is what I've seen before. Maxxis has a nice lineup to choose from. The bighorns, buckshots and bravos are all tough tires.
